I was just readin some TSO things on internet when I remembered this little story.
Years ago I was flying out form LAX to board a plane to Copenhagen, Denmark.
It was summer time so I was wearing tiny ,almost no existing, sandeles.
I was told by a screener, he was very upset, that is all you are wearing on your feet.
That is nothing to be screnned!
Any one else have this happen to you. That you wear to little to make TSO happy!

Not surprising given some stories of passengers wearing nothing but a speedo or swimsuit and were told to put on clothing so they could be searched!

I'm surprised he didn't threaten to call a LEO to arrest you for daring to bare your feet. Because clearly these TSA Screeners like him are missing some of their brain cells.

I know. I was also wearing shorts and a tank top.
Sometimes I am wodnering what would have happened if he would have asked me to put on other shoes and socks!
I didnt have any with me.
I always keep a lot of extra items in my room in Sweden.
It is like they want you to have a lot of cloths/shoes on. So they have an excuse to frisk/scan you. And if you dont they look more stupid.

We had another one last week that came up to the checkpoint, took off shoes, pants, shirt and walked through in underwear, Got to the other side, got dressed and left.

I absolutely plan on doing that on my next flight to Paris (I won't fly domestically anymore because of the TSA, but I'll be damned if they stop me from flying internationally).
I will wear a sports bra and skimpy jogging shorts under a shirt and pants. I will take off my pants and shirt and place it in the bins with all the rest of my "freedom articles" and then proceed through either the metal detector or OPT OUT.
What will the clerk pat down? Clearly not my bare arms, legs and midriff, that would be insane. So that leaves just my labia and clitoris, buttocks and breasts.
Oh, and I also plan on rolling down the waistband on my teeny jogging shorts to the top of my underwear (or maybe I won't wear underwear, even better!) So what will the clerk run her fingers through and around?
I'm serious with this question for all the resident clerks on this board: What do you pat down on people dressed in their underwear?

I applaud you, but be prepared for the clerks to tell you that you have to get dressed in order to get patted down.
Makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

It sure does! I believe this actually happened to a FT's wife who took off her dress and put it in the bin to be xrayed and they told her she had to put it on to be patted down.
Here's sane logic: Xrays find bombs and therefore everyone must go through the cancer scans and all luggage and clothes go through xray scans as well. Any clothes not going through the xray must be groped to insure no bombs. At this point bare skin is not groped, merely touched since no bomb has been implanted in skin - yet.
Here's TSA logic: Xrays find bombs and therefore everyone must go through the cancer scans and all luggage and clothes go through xray scans as well. However, the passengers who put their clothes through the xray must instead put the clothes back on to be patted down, since apparently xrays cannot be trusted, especially if you're in your underwear.
Or is it that the TSA clerks don't want to make the sexual assault as apparent when you are groping arms and legs as well? If you only groped breasts, buttocks, penises, testicles, vulvas, and anuses the sexual assault is much more apparent. At least it is to me.

Or it's easier to search for drugs if they pat you down with clothing on.

Taking drugs with you in your cabin baggage is only slightly less monumentally stupid than carrying it in your pockets. (It's also not relevant at all to aviation safety, but in fairness that hasn't stopped the TSA before.) The real point of X-rays and patdowns therefore isn't drugs but rather weapons, explosives and revenue protection for stores that sell drinks.

Agree on both points. However, this thread is in relation to carrying it somewhere in your clothing.

Circumstantial evidence would disprove your thesis.

You're saying the TSA are more concerned with drugs than weaponry? 'cause then they change their tactics.
I'm not saying they're not also looking for drugs, mind you.

Why? My clothes went through the xray, isn't that machine supposed to find "suspicious materials"? If not, then xrays and nudoscopes are useless. If you are basically nude, there is no reason for a grope on skin to search for either bombs or drugs.

Me too. Family lore (mythology? who knows) has it that at the end of the 19th century, before the Russian government allowed Doukhobors to leave, my grandfather's family ran something similar to a stop on the underground railroad - except that it was in his mother's teahouse in Minsk and it was for Doukhobors.

I think some here have erroneous impressions about what the purpose of this forum is.
We're here to discuss travel questions and concerns. Despite what some may want to be the case, Flyertalk is not a debate society, political forum or consumer complaint hotline. Flyertalk is about members assisting other members. Demands for answers -- or worse, accountability for one's employer -- are unacceptable forms of address. We'd appreciate it if everyone would regard one another in a civil, respectful manner, even those with whom you disagree.
