The FAA, which doesn't approve or deny plans itself but instead makes recommendations based on its needs, said its blessing comes with conditions that the wheel be properly lit and that if developers change their plans, they tell the agency within five days after construction reaches its highest point.

Las Vegas council says OK from FAA. It will expect to begin constructions and it will be completions done in 2013.

From what I've read this will be a huge billboard. I've been on the London Eye and Singapore Flyer, I am not sure the view offered by the Vegas Wheel is all that interesting. Nevertheless, I hope this venture succeeds.

Hopefully on a 110 degree day it doesn't become a human rotisserie.

IMO the attraction for this would be at night when the strip is lit up. Daytime views would not be too worthwhile.

Can I gamble when I'm on it? :D

:D, if it doesn't become true. Imagine if it got stuck when you're up there in July.

depending on which contractor is the lowest bidder, just riding the contraption may be a gamble.

Ha, nice. I'm actually curious as to whom will get the electrical bid, I used to be in electrical sales in Vegas and I worked with most of the big electrical contractors.
