Hong Kong and Macau - Prepaid SIM card - Blackberry service clarification

Hi friends,

I am slightly confused about the prepaid phone/data options in Hong Kong.

My parents will be visiting for a couple of days and will need SIM cards with local telephone numbers, so that they can call each other as well as receive calls.

Furthermore, can they also get PREPAID Blackberry email service on their Blackberry's, e.g. if they have a gmail account setup on the Blackberry, can they continue to receive those emails?

Which company(ies) would provide this?

If not, then I presume the data component offered by these companies is just web browsing?

They have unlocked phones.

Blackberry Pushmail service won't work on prepaid cards. If you using other setup such as smtp email it might work but I never use a blackberry.

You can always fail back on web based gmail. Those Internet connection package on prepaid card are normally unlimited day plan which they don't care how you use it (be it tethering or email or VPN)

Wasted a full day in HK trying to get full BB service in HK. This is what is available due to the way BB's work:

Prepaid SIM in HKG in BB's will only give you voice and SMS.

BB's use the BB server for data and push email so for a BB to work in another country besides your own you need to have it "de-registered" before you depart and "re-register" it with your new service.

Since this is a tedious and BB charges the carrier for each registration the shortest term you can get full BB service in HK is one year contract with 3HK.

I just add Asia roaming to my BB plan and use it for incoming email/SMS while using an Andriod device to access web, local SMS and voice.
