Wyndham Rewards - Wyndham Rewards and Wyndham Rewards with ByRequest Terminology very Confusing

There are two different home pages, both have a box to sign in to Wyndham Rewards:

http://wr.wyndhamrewards.com/WyndhamRewards/control/advanced_search

https://www.wyndham.com/wbr/signin.wnt?event=globalSignIn

I believe that the 2nd is only for Wyndham Rewards properties with "Wyndham" in the property name and the first link is for all other Wyndham Rewards properties (that don't have Wyndham in the hotel name) is that right?

I've never had to have a separate account and different user name password for Wyndham / Wingate bookings in the past as far as I can remember, but I guess you do need a separate one now.

Sorry for my late response.

Essentially, these are the same accounts, the two account numbers and separate online logins simply reflect the different programs used to manage the aspects of each program.

Wyndham ByRequest is to track and facilitate hotel benefits at Wyndham Hotels and Resorts properties.
You automatically receive Welcome Level benefits, including:
Free Internet access
Expedited check-in
Free domestic long-distance calls
Online access to hotel receipts
(Internet access and free long distance varies outside of North America locations)

After three qualifying nights, you will enjoy our ByRequest Level benefits:
A welcome snack and drink
Your room the way you prefer it
Extras, like towels and pillows

Wyndham Rewards is the points earning program, where you earn points or miles per USD for all of our brands.

If you need your logins or any assistance you can contact us at 800-996-3426 or email at customerserviceWBR@wyn.com.

I agree that it's very confusing. These separate but related programs are not friendly to those who don't already understand them, and I'm sure that some people simply book elsewhere rather than try to figure them out. Wyndham should figure out how to better consolidate these programs -- preferably with a single account number.

I have a ByRequest number that is tied to a Rewards number with 0 points. I somehow have a separate Rewards number that does not seem to be tied to a ByRequest number at all.

So if I log into my ByRequest account, I see a Rewards number and balance of 0. I can click on the link to go to this Rewards account. If I then log out of my Rewards account (0 points) and log into my other Rewards account (+ points), I see my points. Now if I return to the ByRequest website, it still sees me as logged in for ByRequest and with my first Rewards number.

There's no indication of a way to tie my ByRequest number to my other Rewards number. I could sign up for another ByRequest number to tie to my second Rewards number.

I'm sure that I'm not the only one with such a confusing arrangement.

For new ByRequest members who do not already have a Rewards number, do they get a single number for both programs?

I believe from your note you may have duplicate accounts. If you can send me a private message with your account numbers, name and address I can sort out the different accounts for you.

Sorry for all of the confusion.

That's quite clear to me. It makes me wonder how many other people have similar problems and just dismiss Wyndham as being confusing.

Do some people have the same account number for both Rewards and ByRequest? Or are they always different even for new members?

It's my impression that if you sign up for By Request, there's a Rewards number associated with it.

I've never understood how it works in reverse...
