Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - LH cancelled flight, missed DB booking - any recourse?

Hi everyone,
Curious if I should bother contacting LH about this or not. I was on a LH flight from MUC to FRA. LH cancelled the flight and rebooked me on a later one, but I had a DB booking ex-FRA and I missed it because my flight was several hours later. On arriving to FRA, they charged me ~160 euros for a re-booking.
My friend made fun of me and told me I should have just hopped on the train and feigned ignorance, but it's 160 euros too late for that. :) I'm curious - in a case like this, can I try to claim it from LH, or am I SOL?
Thx,
-pN
Without knowing the reasons for the cancellation of the flight, you may be entitled to 250 EUR of compensation under EU 261/2004.

Yes, but depending on the duration of the delay (and of course the reason).
Otherwise, because these are two separate contracts, there will be no compensation.
As a recommendation, if you want to travel by rail after your flight, you can by a "rail&fly"-ticket, which is very cheap and fully flexible.

yup, I've heard of those - but this was an open jaw of a multiple-leg Aeroplan redemption, so no such luck... Hmm. I guess I'll try complaining anyhow.

Are you sure it is fully flexible? Last time I bought "Rail and Fly" option, the ticket was non-refundable and valid for 24 hours from the day of the flight to which the option is attached. So, in case of delays to/from destinations with multiple flights per day, it is - I would call it- semi-flexible. But in case of "one daily flights", chances are high that missing your original ticket will render Rail and Fly not valid if you don't take the train by specific time.
