I've been doing CheckPoints for a couple of months via my iPhone and Android

You get points for checking into stores and can earn more by scanning items at those stores.

3,750 point can be used for 500 DL and AS miles. I just cashed mine our on Sunday and got my 500 DL miles today.

Checking in are 2pts up to 10pts each. Max 40 per day

Scans are 10-50 pts each. I earned 3,750 pts in less then a month-enough for 500 Delta miles.

So I ventured next door to try it out at Safeway. I was able to find 8 out of the 11 items it listed. For one of the items I got 50 points, two items I got 25, and the rest I got 10. With the bonus spins (which you get for scanning each item) I got an extra ~150 points. So in all I made about 300 points in one visit. The whole thing kind of reminds me of that old game show 'Supermarket Sweep' where you are given an item and have to find it. Not something I am going to bank a ton of miles with, but it's kind of fun so I will keep doing it.

What's my next step for joining? Do I use pagnotar's referral?

CheckPoints miles rewards - DL miles: 500 for 3750 CP or AS miles: 1000 for 8100 CP. There are also gift cards (Amazon, Home Depot, etc) in various amounts.

Note: scannable items change fairly often, right now there are 5 ice cream items, each worth 30 points per scan.

2nd Note: if you are fairly near a grocery score, you can scan items that you might already have (including just the bar code if you save it!)

3rd Note: app resets itself at midnight PDT.

4th Note: You can only "check in" and get points 5 places a day, so we try to use our 5 check ins on the 10 point gold star nearby places. You can check in more times but you won't get points.

5th Note: each scan gets you a "coin" or two which you can play for additional points, from 0 to 50,000, most are worth 20 points, or an occasional 50; I've never gotten more than 50.

I would be careful with that one. I did a quick search and found that a lot of people are getting banned for similar practices. However, it should be noted that these were people that were also using cheat sites where users were just scanning computer generated bar codes from home.

One thing I have been doing is scanning similar items if the pictured item isn't available. For example, my store doesn't carry Newman's Own Marinade, but scanning Newman's Own salad dressing still works.

Side note, does anyone else feel really awkward scanning the US Weekly? This week it had some scantily clad woman the cover. To the normal passer by it would look like I was taking a picture of it. Not worth the 10 points :).

I don't know if anyone is doing the games tonight. I do the matching three items.

I am 6 for 7...VERY rare...who knows...Plus, right now Wal-Mart, you can earn over 600 pts at it

From what I hear, if they suspect that you earned your points fraudulently then they will deactivate your account and/or send you an email withing minutes of redeeming a reward that you are banned.

I submitted my first reward request about a week ago after taking about two weeks to get enough points and I haven't gotten them deposited either, so I think you're fine.

Thanks. I got my DELTA reward a few days ago. Also, I've been earning about 300 pts a day. 50 from check in's and the other 250 from going to wal-mart each day.

Maybe I go to the store too much, but it is great.

The reason Jrglass was skipped was because there is a problem with that username, it did not work. If you can't put your username on correctly or come back to update it then you have to skip them or the conga ends.

Anyone have this happen when scanning barcodes for CheckPoints:

Was at Wal-Mart and was scanning a bottle of water and the following conversation ensues:

Worker: Excuse me sir, what are you doing?
Me: Huh?
Worker: You can't take pictures in here.
Me: I'm just scanning the barcode.
Worker: Okay, well, you just need to know you can't be taking pictures in here.

Don't know if this is a blowback from the People of Wal-Mart website or what.

How often do the items change? I've noticed all 4 supermarkets near me have the same items listed, and some don't carry any of the items on the list at all. It's getting kind of redundant going into Publix every time I can to scan the same 10 items or so and leaving. Do they ever change items?

Pardon me for interrupting the conga, but I have to chime in on their points redemption problems. Quite simply, they don't do it. I had over 5,000 points. Every....single.....one....of them was legitimate. No location spoofing, no paper bar codes....all legitimate points. I redeemed them for an Amazon gift card. About a week later I got the "you cheated" email. After checking the app reviews I see that this is happening more and more.

Words can't describe how ticked I am at this company so beware.

AA miles are now available. 500 AAdvantage miles for 3750 Checkpoints.

But, both Delta and Alaska miles have been removed from the redemption list.

Just today I arrived at over 8100 Checkpoints, ready to redeem for 1000 Alaska miles - but alas, they're gone. Darn.

I'm sorry for the above poster who got dumped by the site and I've really been frustrated lately because the site has been so erratic, but I've been able to cash in for lots of DL and AS miles during the year and a half I've been using the site.

Mods: would it make sense to start a second thread, keeping the conga for congas and the new thread for posts such as this one? There are several hints for using the site that might be helpful, but would clog up the conga.

Of course they offered to forgive us one time and would let us start over from scratch. The vast majority of points were earned legitimately by downloading apps, playing games, scanning products etc. Checkpoints failed to respond to written letters of complaint and a Better Business Bureau complaint also.

Sorry it was like that. I have NEVER had this experience and I have earned well over 10,000 miles with Delta.

However, when you "VAST Majority"....does that mean some were not earned actually in a store? if so, that is why they took them away

Earning checkpoints really is a pain. Some stores don't stock all of the items and I feel like I'm wasting time trying to scan items in the store. After I get 500 AA miles, I think I will take a break from checkpoints. It's turned my shopping experience into a chore of a part time job!

Anyone notice that stores are offering a lot LESS checkpoints products than before? I used to be able to snag up to 200 checkpoints and 15+ coins from each grocery store.

Now it looks like grocery stores around me only offer 62 checkpoints and 3 coins.

I think this program is dying...

So I was at a Ralphs grocery store the other day and thought, "hmmmm I haven't used the Checkpoints app in a while" and proceeded to scan a couple of items to get some points and some bonus coins.

I played the slot machine game while I was waiting in line to purchase my groceries... and I won a 150K checkpoints jackpot!!

Not sure what I should do with these points. I'm thinking either 20,000 American Airlines miles, 16GB iPad 4, or maybe the $500 Louis Vuitton gift card for my wife! :p
