I´m planning to stay at a game resort in Pilanesberg and have contacted a company recommended to me by the resort regarding transportation.
I´ve been given a quote of 1450 Rand each way from JNB airport to the resort.
So I´d like to ask the experts:
Is this a reasonable rate for this kind of journey?

That drive should only be about an hour I believe, maybe two, so 145 pounds seems rather steep but not insane.

Thanks. According the company it would be a 2h-2.5h drive from JNB to the resort. 1450 Rand is about 130GBP at the moment which is only slightly less what I´d expect to pay in the UK, but was still thinking it´s quite a lot.
Maybe I should ask the company whether there are any more inexpensive options...

Thanks! I did in fact get back to the company asking for less expensive alternatives, and I was offered the same transportation for 1200 Rand each way which I agreed to, seems like a fair deal...
If the driver does a great job I always give him a tip.

Why not hire a car?
I have driven JNB-Sandton (overnight) then on to Sun City a couple of times. It is a fairly easy journey and at the right time of the week the roads are quiet.

Rent a car with Avis - they have discounts for international renters (with comprehensive insurance) and is an easy drive from Jo'burg.

Dear all
I will be alone in JNB. During the weekend, I want to join a group to go to Pilanesberg on a Saturday.
However, the tour offerings are always for 2 or more persons. For a single person, it costs double as much because they only offer private tours.
Is there any travel agencies who could pool singles like me together so that we could get to Pilanesberg together?
Appreciate your advices.
