Weird but I was unable to check my account or existing reservations, kept giving me a "website is undergoing maintenance". Tried on a different computer with the same result. I'll call them later tonight but I'm rather concerned that there is a problem with their system. Anyone else run into this problem (don't see any news about their website having problems).

It is still down today, that is a very long outage and they are for sure losing some business. It says to call hotels directly for reservations, not many will do that and they will pick a different hotel like I just did.

Still down this morning. I wasn't even able to check my Golden Circle account ("critical system update") which makes me wonder how wide spread the outage is.

I can't imagine what is going on, tried to check my golden circle account and it still says technical problems. Shangri-La.com Reservations still not working yet third party websites can still show rates so I don't get it.

Nearly a week of outage??? I wonder what kind of "technical issue" can be that long. Any CIO would risk his job on such a long outage. It must be costing them quite a lot.

Hack? Shangri-La, the next Sony?

If I were one of their customers, I'll keep a close watch on my credit card transactions these days :(

I was thinking the same thing, they must have been compromised.

What worries me is that local reservation staff seem to avoid talking about the problem (ie ignore the question on why the system is down). So I sent an email and got the following response:

"Yes, our database servers do take a fair bit of time to rebuilt for 70+ hotels and our technical team is estimating another 15 days"

Huh???

Well if you go now, they direct you to a third party site to book the reservations!

"While we are working on restoring our online booking service we are re-directing booking requests to a partner website for reservations. Please be assured that this is a secure website and your details will remain confidential as per our company policies. Certain functionalities such as Corporate ID and Group Code bookings are not available on this partner website – please contact our hotels directly for Corporate and Group bookings.

To our Golden Circle members – Until the site has been restored you will not be able to login to your account. Therefore we would kindly ask you to present your membership card at check-in so we can properly credit your stay to your account."

My money is on hardware failure and no backup - or at least no recoverable backup.

So it has to be re-built from scratch.

I was in HK a couple of days ago, where the membership centre is located, and they told me they are flying people in to fix the problem ?!?!?!

It's been back online for the last 3-4 days now.

Everything seems to be back to normal.
