Los Angeles - What's up with the horrible elevator music at LAX T8?

I flew through there on Saturday and departed from gate 85. Maybe I'm mistaken, but I have never noticed music playing at any United gate before. But they had the Muzak tracks goin strong. It was like fingernails on a chalk board! I complained to the GA as I was boarding and she laughed and told me to write.. so I did.

I arrived in T7 and used the RCC before heading over to my gate. I didn't notice this abomination until I got to T8. Perhaps it's done purposely to torture passengers who may then feel some relief when boarding their tiny CRJ's.

I'm lobbying for silence.

The music plays through both T7 and T8. T7 is much louder, so you don't hear it as well.

It is THE WORST. I often find it utterly depressing. I'm usually in T7. Go to T1 and they play pop music, which can go either way but I'll take it over T7's music any day.

I now have an RCC membership almost exclusively because of LAX T8 - flying from COS to LA I'm always in T8 and after a 3 hour delay one evening last year the choice was seppuku or using miles for an RCC membership... I'm still alive...

I've complained for going on 3 years now about about the horrible mind-bending invasive audio there - another set of complaining voices would not be bad but I doubt it will change.

Update: I wrote 1K voice about it and got this reply:

As you are a Million Miler, you know us better than anyone, and we focus tremendously on your observations. We do want you to know that our operations teams and senior leadership spend a good deal of time reviewing comments from you and other elite customers. I have forwarded you comments on how we can improve customer service and reevaluate the music played. It's from feedback such as yours that we put together a set of improvements and we are committed to providing you the products and services you expect, and deserve.
Thank you for choosing United as your carrier of choice. We look forward to serving you again soon.

Works for me.. just make it stop!

I'm DYING to know if anything WILL happen. (I'm betting, 'NO').
FWIW, the music is the same in T7 and T8. It comes from the same feed and UA does not particpate in the individual 'programming'---they select the genre and provider(DISH Netwrk, IIRC) selects the actual tracks. T8 is signif structurally different that T7 --it has low ceilings and narrow halls and gate areas, so the sound tends to be mroe concentrated --you should hear it late at night when the term is empty---EXCRUCIATING--you could NEVER sleep at a gate in T8.
It's also a 'trade off'. The 'music' helps drown out the incessant cell phone yackers, the screaming babies, the unruly children, etc, so I wouldn't expect the 'no music' request to happen.
And then consider this. T8 is not frequented regularly by higher-ups at UA. If they come in from HQ, 99 times out of 100, it will be in and out of T7 --and you have to really focus to detect that muzak.>>>>Out of sight, Out of Mind....thus, I'm dying to see what happens.

PLEASE POST if you get any further followup.

I just boarded at Gate 83 and had to comment on the truly odd Muzak. It was The Fifth Dimension's "One Less Bell to Answer" (circa what, 1970?), but with female backing vocals like the ones in the original "Star Trek" theme. This is the real, industrial-strength Muzak!
