8:00pm Arrivals Lounge by OneStarTeam Alliance
Enjoy post-flight drinks and nibbles at my home in Woodside, Queens. An intimate setting is the best way to meet new FTers. Come hungry and thirsty. Easy access from Manhattan via the 7 train, 52nd Street stop. For those arriving NYC in the evening, come directly from LGA, as it’s only a $12, 10 minute cab ride. Exact address will be sent via email.
Saturday
12:00pm MoMA, PS1
This outpost of MoMA in Long Island City, Queens is a contemporary art museum known for experimental art. It will serve as our starting point for our exploration of Queens. We will me at its entrance at 46-01 21st Street, Long Island City, NY. http://ps1.org/
2:00pm Lunch at Studio Square Beer Garden
A great new space in Long Island City. With a great selection of beers, we’ll create our own Oktoberfest festivities. Lunch is off the menu with no minimum spend, but it's cash only. RSVP required. 35-33 36th Street
Long Island City, NY 11106 (718) 383-1001
4:00pm-6:00pm Stroll through the ethnic neighborhoods of Queens
Queens is the quintessential American melting pot. Every 10 blocks you find yourself ensconced in a completely different culture. We’ll hit an Irish pub in Sunnyside, a samosa vendor in Jackson Heights, and the best dumplings in NYC in Flushing. This part of the tour is subject to time constraints and laziness of the group.
8:30pm Drinks at the Harvard Club
Lucky for us this is a cashless club, so drinks are on the member. Sucks to be him. Come by and enjoy an aperitif before we head to dinner right next door. 27 W. 44th St., between 5th and 6th Avenues. We’ll be in the front bar.
9:00pm Dinner at Kellari Taverna
Enjoy some great Greek food in this upscale taverna. Menu will be pre-fixe, with appetizers, a salad, a choice of entrée, and dessert. Menu is in post 173. Cost is $49 per person, plus tax, tip, which comes to $63 per person. Drinks are extra. No prepay necessary, but please bring cash. RSVP required. 19 W. 44th St, between 5th and 6th Avenues.
11:30pm Drinks at Industry
Hell’s Kitchen’s newest gay club is actually a great space and a great place to meet people. There will probably be a line to get in, but it’s worth it. 355 W. 52nd St, between 8th and 9th Avenues.
Sunday
11:00am Dim Sum in Chinatown
88 Palace is located on the second floor of a mall in Chinatown. You might as well be in Hong Kong. This should be a good start as the afternoon’s activities are downtown. 88 E. Broadway, NY, 10002. RSVP preferred.
1:00pm
9/11 Memorial for those that were lucky enough to get a reservation.
Tenement Museum for anyone else who’s interested.
Tour of the TWA JFK Terminal http://www.ohny.org/site-programs/weekend/sites/twa-flight-center
7:00pm Scruff Night @The Griffins Sunday
For those of you that enjoy your men a little hirsute, this will be the place to be. A one-time party at the infamous Griffins, Scruff night should be full of shenanigans. Open bar 7-8pm. No cover. 50 Gansevoort St.

Ladies, be sure to bring comfortable shoes and not pumps. You wouldn't want to break a heel on a cobblestone in Dumbo. ;)

Ok, I called them, and it's much harder than we want.
To do a group, it's a minimum of 10 people.
I must have the first name and last name of each person: each ticket is named. Each person must have an ID to enter the memorial.
Once we make the reservation, to add additional people, I have to call and see if there is capacity. If there is not, we can either cancel the entire reservation and rebook, or add the other people at a different time.
I made our existing reservations for:
Saturday, October 15, 2011, 2:00:00 PM
It probably makes sense for us to pick a time in the afternoon on Sunday, and unless we have 10 people now, each person should go ahead and make their own reservation.
I'll then cancel my existing one.

Thanks dollaroff for looking into the 9/11 memorial.
I think the best way to proceed is for anyone interested to simply get their own ticket, as personal info is required. I would suggest, however, a later time like 4 or 5pm. If we want to have brunch in Brooklyn and then walk over the Brooklyn Bridge, 2pm isn't realistic.
For those interested, the website is www.911memorial.org

Train scheduled for 5pm, I'm out of the memorial (although I watched it get built and when the water came on, so I guess that's sufficient for the moment) ... I should be around for the Brooklyn brunch, at least.
I'll follow up again after Labor Day. If we don't get 10, maybe I'll just put 2 people down so we can get 10.

After being a "possible" for the past few Gayla's, it looks like there is a good likelihood that I will join in at the Gayla.
I will be in SFO the week prior the Gayla and in NY the week after. Instead of returning to SDF for the weekend, I'll just fly to JFK the Thursday afternoon or Friday morning of the Gayla.
Glad I found this thread prior to having any tickets issued.

I have printed out the passes: I will have them with me on Sunday.
I'm planning to go to dim sum: therefore we need to meet around 12:45ish at the Memorial.
Some of the names are a bit wrong (including mine): but (IMHO), they should be fine to match up to your ID. Per the website:
---
Should you need to make a change to a name listed on your reservation, we can accommodate this request at our entry point provided the new guest has photo ID.
---
Here is a bunch of rules/info: please read beforehand:
9/11 Memorial Visitor Guide
To enhance your visitor experience, we recommend that you view the 9/11 Memorial Visitor Guide in advance of your visit. This guide provides background information about the World Trade Center, the September 11, 2001 attacks and the 9/11 Memorial. It also includes an overview of how the names on the Memorial are arranged. The entire names arrangement is available through our Memorial Guide app for iPhones, online at names.911memorial.org and on electronic directories at the Memorial.
Arrival
Please enter at the corner of Albany and Greenwich Streets (1 Albany Street for GPS directions). We strongly suggest you plan to arrive 15 minutes ahead of your scheduled reservation, as it is unlikely that we will be able to accommodate late arrivals. All visitors and baggage are subject to security screening. Since there is limited parking near the 9/11 Memorial, we recommend you take public transportation.
• Visitor passes are required and will be checked upon entry.
• Enter the 9/11 Memorial at the intersection of Albany and Greenwich Streets (1 Albany St.)
• Visitor may be asked to show valid photo ID matching their visitor pass name.
• All visitors and baggage are subject to security screening.
• Please limit the items that you bring with you. No baggage larger than 8”x17”x19” will be permitted, and bag storage is not available.
• Public restrooms are not available on site.
• You will only be admitted at the time indicated on your visitor pass. Please do not arrive more than 30 minutes prior to your reservation.
• Please do not throw or place anything in the Memorial pools.

Already gave some folks a heads-up via PM, but it looks like I'm not going to make it this weekend (and was so looking forward to seeing everyone :( ). I've had to cancel my plans for this weekend. Have fun everyone...looks like it's going to be a great weekend in NYC!

I have printed out the passes: I will have them with me on Sunday.
I'm planning to go to dim sum: therefore we need to meet around 12:45ish at the Memorial.
Thanks a lot for organizing this, dollaroff, I'm looking forward to it. For those of you with iPhones, there are a some great apps available that might enhance your visit:
*Explore 9/11
*9/11 Memorial Guide
*110 stories
The first two are official apps from the 9/11 Memorial and the last is a fascinating (and eerie) photo app that will give you a view of what the towers looked like from certain spots in Manhattan with your own pictures! All are free.

Wow! Great party! Thanks very much for hosting us! Tasty food... I will look up the Thai place in your neighborhood and finally break away from my usual Thai fare in Woodside. :)
