4:00pm-6:00pm Stroll through the ethnic neighborhoods of Queens
Queens is the quintessential American melting pot. Every 10 blocks you find yourself ensconced in a completely different culture. We’ll hit an Irish pub in Sunnyside, a samosa vendor in Jackson Heights, and the best dumplings in NYC in Flushing. This part of the tour is subject to time constraints and laziness of the group.

8:30pm Drinks at the Harvard Club
Lucky for us this is a cashless club, so drinks are on the member. Sucks to be him. Come by and enjoy an aperitif before we head to dinner right next door. 27 W. 44th St., between 5th and 6th Avenues. We’ll be in the front bar.

9:00pm Dinner at Kellari Taverna
Enjoy some great Greek food in this upscale taverna. Menu will be pre-fixe, with appetizers, a salad, a choice of entrée, and dessert. Menu is in post 173. Cost is $49 per person, plus tax, tip, which comes to $63 per person. Drinks are extra. No prepay necessary, but please bring cash. RSVP required. 19 W. 44th St, between 5th and 6th Avenues.

Hell’s Kitchen’s newest gay club is actually a great space and a great place to meet people. There will probably be a line to get in, but it’s worth it. 355 W. 52nd St, between 8th and 9th Avenues.

Yes, literally within viewing distance from my friend's studio. :D Best-kept secret restaurantwise in that area (until now :rolleyes: ;) ) is Malagueta, a Brazilian, Michelin-starred cafe run by a charming hostess and her husband, the chef. It's on 37th Avenue two blocks from Four Points. Reasonably priced.

My current favs in Manhattan are Le Parker Meridien (location), Hyatt properties (GP status/location), and my newly acquired fav Trump SoHo. Others as well, depending on price.

There's a hotel (not a fancy one think Hampton Inn, HGI, 4Pts, and Fairfield and Indigo) but they are all w/in walking distance of a gay bar and multiple subway lines.

Depends on the time in the AM. I always take the bus and heading from PA to EWR rarely has traffic, particularly early in the AM. Plus it is much faster than subway to 34th St, NJT to Airtrain to terminal

The itinerary is still in flux. But Sunday I was thinking Brooklyn for brunch and afternoon activity, and then whoever wants to can go the memorial which is easy to get to from Brooklyn.

Ok, I called them, and it's much harder than we want.

To do a group, it's a minimum of 10 people.

I must have the first name and last name of each person: each ticket is named. Each person must have an ID to enter the memorial.

Once we make the reservation, to add additional people, I have to call and see if there is capacity. If there is not, we can either cancel the entire reservation and rebook, or add the other people at a different time.

I will be in SFO the week prior the Gayla and in NY the week after. Instead of returning to SDF for the weekend, I'll just fly to JFK the Thursday afternoon or Friday morning of the Gayla.

Dang, I have a bad habit of seeing threads a day late. I will be in NYC that weekend and would have loved to participate, especially as a group experience.

Alas, the next available date on http://visit.911memorial.org for individual reservations is for November 29. I'll be back in NYC on December 10-11, but those dates are not available, either. I'll be there in spirit. ^

Sorry, there is no more space available at the 9-11 memorial for our day. I would check back every day or so and see if something pops up.

And for the challenged, the memorial is free. You must have an ID or you will not be allowed in.
You can make a donation, but you can do that on your own accord.

Sorry for the very late post. I have a crazy schedule in DC this weekend. But I will try to meet others on the TWA Flight Center tour on Sunday and perhaps the last event of the day. I'll get there from Penn Station on LIRR and then Air Train.
