US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Upgrade chances at SFO these days

Dear All:
Planning a weekend trip to the Bay Area in May. Was surprised to see how few US A321s are going to SFO. Mostly A320s and -19s. I looked to see if there was already a thread on this, but didn't see it.
I'm assuming there are lots of people not able to upgrade? Any experiences?
If it looks dicey to UG, I might as well fly in E+ on a UA IAD-OAK nonstop (which is slightly cheaper than US to SFO - thanks JetBlue!)

I had no trouble upgrading a Saturday AM LAX-PIT 319 or 320 (forget which one) on a Saturday AM a few weeks ago at the 3-day window. I had to wait for gate clearance for my Tuesday afternoon CLT-LAX upgrade on a 319/320 (also forget which one).

Midweek and mid-weekend, you should be okay.

Thursday night, Friday morning, Sunday morning, and Monday morning will be difficult, if not impossible. I've been (as a Chairman, at the time) 12th in line on a list for 2 seats, particularly on Thursday night.

I just got in on 196, the first SFO-PHL flight of the day. I overheard an agent tell a pax there were 12 people in the upgrade queue. They were looking for volunteers--it was a zoo. No doubt, spring break was a factor. AND...no headsets boarded to enjoy the movie. And that happened Friday on 197 outbound. Inexcuseable from PHL!

Yes, the 319's or 320's are difficult/impossible to upgrade. I just checked on my flight Sunday night....there is one seat not already purchased in F.....so I'll probably be out of luck.

The 321's are fine, but as mentioned, not on all of the routes.

If CP's can't upgrade, are they actually selling full Y or F tickets? If so, I can't complain since my ticket to SFO was only $265.

Flew DCA-PIT-LAX-PIT-DCA a while back and I had no problems upgrading any of the segments. I bought a UA ticket, so I couldn't upgrade until the day of, but did web checkin and was upgraded at the gate. Was #1 both times as a GP.
