US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Will Web Check In Preclude Advance Upgrade

Suppose that an upgrade has not cleared with in the pax DM window. Then the pax checks in 24 hours before on the web site. Is it possible that between 24 hours and 2 hours before the departure that the wait list is re-evaluated by the computer and it will not upgrade someone on the pre-departure wait list because they are already checked in? I know that checking in 24 hrs in advance can put you ahead on the airport standby list, but I am curious if the check in could preclude an automated advance upgrade?

Also does anyone know for sure if the advance pre-departure wait list is only processed by the computer at around 1AM eastern time? Has anyone ever had an upgrade clear by the computer at a different time?

A res agent tried to tell me a few things that I cannot quite believe:
1. Agent said the computer evaluates the upgrade wait list in real time, and that there are no specific times that the list is processed; and
2. Agent said that even after you web check in, the pre-departure wait list process could still clear you in to E/P class even if already checked in.

I can't answer many of your questions, but once I failed to clear at the 3 day window and checked in via the web 24 hours early. When I arrived at the airport and asked to get on the standby list they told me I had already cleared and printed me an F boarding pass.

My experience varies slightly. On PHX-PHL on an A321, I had requested placement on the upgrade queue a week before the flight by telephone. I checked virtually there daily and had not cleared. I used web checkin 24 hours prior to departure, and printed my Y boarding pass. The morning of the flight, virtually there said my upgrade had cleared. I walked to the counter to check my bag and ask for my BP in F, only to be told I hadn't cleared. When I said virtually there had confirmed it, she said no. I walked to the gate and the GA was printing my F boarding pass as we spoke. Perhaps some discrepancy exists between the counter and virtually there?

I called yesterday to inquire about my upgrade for Saturday. I was told I was waitlisted. I logged into "existing reservations" on USAirways.com today, and noticed that instead of my seat assignment for Saturday's flight, there was a "check in with agent" notation (or something like that). I figured my upgrade had cleared. I called, and it did.

I know this happened to me once. The more likely scenario is that you will be first or near the top of the wait list and will clear at the gate. Most of time when I don't clear prior to 24 hours it is at the gate
