New England - Logan Airport: Hilton or the Hyatt?

Greetings,

My home airport is PVD but I will be flying out of BOS shortly. I have stayed at the Embassy Suites at Logan before but wouldn't mind trying something different.

Assuming the prices are the same, which hotel do you seasoned BOS travelers prefer, the Hilton or the Hyatt? It is for only one night. I tried a search but couldn't find anything I liked.

Logan is a very productive search term in the New England travel forum. This thread isn't relevant to the Delta forum.

The Hilton has the advantage of being walkable (Delta is in Terminal A).

The Hyatt has a shuttle to the terminals which might be more convenient with luggage.

Are you driving? Will you be leaving your car at the hotel? You may want to decide according to which will be less expensive.

It isn't one of your considerations, but I stayed at the Hampton Inn at Logan once a few yrs ago. I'd highly recommend it.

I prefer Hyatt overall but not at this location - I have not stayed at the Hilton yet but the Hyatt is a disappointment. I have been there twice and I only stayed the second time as I thought the filthy bathroom I had the first time was a fluke.. Turns out it was not.

I've stayed in both here, and I think the Hyatt has a better cost-benefit. It's nice, clean, good food... The hilton-logan is overpriced in my opinion.

Quick note, depending where your room at the Hyatt is, it can be directly in front of a runway. Kind of creepy! :D

Hi,

I like the Hilton ( good gym and swimming pool) with a good shuttle service and is walkable to Terminals A & E via the covered walkway via the parking garage)

I have stayed at both. Hyatt is probably a nicer hotel, but the Hilton cannot be beat for convenience, especially if you do not mind the walk. The Hilton is a nice property, but Hyatt edges it out slightly in product standards.

I'd go Hyatt for selfish reasons as a Hyatt Diamond, but overall, the Hilton can't be beat for convenience. For an airport hotel, I'm looking for convenience first and foremost - primarily a bed to sleep in before a morning flight. Amenities aren't huge, but walking to the terminal and taking out the hassle/uncertainty of a shuttle bus is the big driver behind it for me.

Thank you, 3Cforme.

Havn't done the Hyatt, but have the Hilton. Nice rooms, good for plane watching. odd chairs, really comfy beds. The front desk staff was nice, the rest were downright crabby (even for Boston) wit the one exception of one of the waitresses in the dining room who looked like she was struggling with her boos just to provide a little customer service. Not that this is a really expensive hotel and one of the ones that loves to nickle and dime you for everything.

Really convenient if you are parking at the airport (there is a connector from the garage on level 2) but you have to either take a shuttle to the Blue Line or wait for the Silver Line Bus to get into the city if that is your goal.

With Hilton sign up to the HH prog and get upgraded on your first stay, or at least I was back then it may have changed since then.

The best one is whichever one priceline assigns you for 20% of sticker price. I've had stays at 50-70 bucks a few times.

Pluses:

Hyatt: a bit nicer in my experience. A view of the airport, usually, as the harbor view rooms are considered premium. I think it's walkable to the boat dock for the harbor taxi into the city.

Hilton: walkable to the airport and garages.

There's a reason for that: the Hyatt was built where it was intentionally in an attempt to keep Massport from building/extending a 6th runway. They did eventually build it, but they're blocked from using it in that direction unless it's an emergency.
