Ok this might not mean anything to non-Europeans but here it goes: I will be on business in New York mid May and the other half is flying in later for a weekend away and has postulated that he desires to watch that all European cheese fest the Eurovision (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eurovision_Song_Contest) (or Concours Eurovision de la Chanson) while in town. :(
Any suggestions which watering hole might show this? Doesn't have to be a gay bar :D

I'm afraid you might end up watching it on a cable tv/on internet, as in NYC it's broadcasted at 3pm.
however try to look up for a Swedish/Icelandic bar, eventually something Norwegian, they might show it actually. Like, I know the Swedish bar in Luxembourg shows Melodifestivalen and this kind of things.
anyway have fun. Do you know that Dana International is back to the contest this year?
OMG I'm having a seizure...and inviting myself along. LONG LIVE KATE RYAN! You were robbed!

Ha! I have been in many bars over the years, mostly in Quebec, Belgium (her native land), France and Denmark (of all places) where the entire place stops what they are doing to sing and jump up and down to "Desenchantee" when it comes on every once in a blue moon...
To answer the OP's question, sorry to say that you'll have a tough time finding it. I have been visiting or living in London 4 of the last 5 years when Eurovision was on, but most people in this city don't even know what Eurovision is and it is rarely broadcast live. :(

There's also a chance I flew to Montreal to see her front row.

That one never caught on with me as much, although most of my memories of it are from G-A-Y late in London in the summer of 2008, when I was working there almost all of June to Sept. It seemed to come on every 10 minutes. I did not know that was a remake until just recently...

also, as for NYC, I see there's a Eurovision party in New York on the 14th of May. Tonic bar on Times Square at 2pm. Maybe that would be interesting as well?

After some research I can confirm that the Hibernia (http://hiberniabar.com/) Bar in HK will show the spectacle live
I expect some hair raising (http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRVJi7Lm8xd_Gk7F1wDxg0lRxvVHPVgE V9SavrPodai2iMCqANn9g) moments :D
Have you heard the new Kate Ryan single by the way?

I only wish it was in French. :p
By the sounds of it, we should probably all travel to Antwerp for a Kate Ryan-themed DO.
After nearly having been thrown out of my own apartment during Eurovision (or Melodi Grand Prix as it is commonly called in Norway) by my best friend after having made sacrilegious comments (basically ranking the artist by their cuteness, not by their songs), I'm somehow glad that I'll be in Honololu next weekend! My husband will be sad to miss it, though!

Hi there,
We are two Israelis who are trying to 'import' Eurovision to New York.
After coming back from Baku, we had a post Eurovision depression and we just decided that we need to be dancing to it in America :) Why isn't it big here??
We've been working really hard to promote it. I was wondering if you guys might have any ideas with no budget? It's in less than 2 weeks.
Thanks,
Gilad.
