US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - E-Upgrades Expire Feb 29-Don't forget to Convert

Just a friendly reminder not to forget any E-Upgrades by Feb 29 as they expire then and become worthless.

I have tried to convert my eupgrades to miles for the past 2 days. Each time I try I get the 'Page Unavailable' error message.

Man I love USAir's website (insert sarcasm here)

I e-mailed the Gold desk on Monday afternoon. I received the following e-mail response on Tuesday morning:

"The E-Upgrades in your E-Upgrade bank have been converted to Dividend Miles as
you requested. 500 Dividend Miles will be credited per upgrade. Allow 48 hours
for the miles to appear in your Dividend Miles account."

Can you still send in unused TransAtlantic upgrades? If so, anyone have the address handy?

A "Mileage Run"... is that what they're called? I've been doing them for years and didn't know they had a name.

I have a friend who is not preferred but has 2 e-upgrades.

Do these expire also? I thought I read that only GP and SP e-upgrades expire.

I believe you are correct. The expiration only applied to preferred members. Your friend may be burned by the one year limit on e-upgrades though.

How well has UAIR made its US2/US3 customers aware of the chanhes and upcoming expiration of the e-upgrades? Since learning of the this (thanks to flyer talk, not through internal company employee communcation) a certain U staffer has been asking US2 and US3 customers if they know about this and none of them have! I have a feeling a lot of our preferred customers will calling/e-mailing the DM desk after 1 March!


BTW. how do you US1 folks feel about the unlimited upgs to US2 and 3s? I can't be making upgrades any easier to get.

Just an odd occurance, I called the silver res line last night to book a few flights. After all was said and done I asked if she would put me on the upgrade list, she proceeded to ask me if i had e-upgrades to use. My response was that the flight was after march 1, so I thought they were unnecsesary. She responded that it had not been confirmed that that was the date as of yet. I had told her that I had cashed all of my e-upgrades out because of the pending expiration date. She eventually put me on the list, with the warning that i might be sitting in coach if the unlimited thing didnt come through on the 1st. This made me very nervous, has any one else had an experienece like this? She did tell me she had been working at US for a while so she never counted on anything.

I booked flights for March & April a few weeks ago. When I asked to be put on the upgrade list, the phone agent asked if I would be using e-upgrades. I said "yes," figuring she hadn't been apprised of the change. Your experience sounds more recent, though, and that kind of concerns me. I suppose I should keep a printed copy of the new rules, in case I need it when I fly on 3/7.

Im flying on the 5th, so ill keep everyone apprised.

According to the web site it says "with travel starting on March 1st....."

Booked my 3/7 flight about a week and a half ago on UA ticket with a segment on US (crediting to US). I just called DM and asked what needed to be done to go for the upgrade and the agent no problem that he put me on the list, no questions asked.

Me too for a flight on 3/3. No questions asked. She said if avialable I will see the upgrade 3 days out as a GP. She even urged me to call to check on it within 72 hours of dept if I wished.

As I asked in another thread, the CPs that travel on 3/1 should start seeing the upgrades come through tomorrow, right?

Wow, I like this board!

The guys over on the CO board would be holding a torch vigil outside of Gordon Bethune's mansion with their laptops in hand waiting for the stroke of midnight for their upgrades to clear AS PROMISED.

If 12:01 came and went without an upgrade they would chant that, "Gordon is a liar!" and proceed to torch the place.

You guys seem to be much more forgiving...that is very refreshig!

Thanks for the reminder--I'm now 57,000 miles richer thanks to GOM...

After 3/1, how will upgrades work in US's internal systems? Are they ditching e-upgrades altogether, or does the system issue you e-upgrades as needed? When you were CP previously, would you ever see an e-upgrade bank, or in your statement, would it show each flight under used upgrades? As a gold for instance, there is a section of the statement that showed each flight you upgraded and the number of e-upgrades deducted.

If you're actively flying, watch out for an extra threshold upgrades to appear in your account, and convert those as well. I just had some more appear from a Europe trip I took last week.

I arrived home late last night from CLT, and decided I would convert my remaining 500 mile upgrades to miles this morning (Feb. 29th), and low and behold, they are all gone............

It appears that US deleted all the upgrades and I didn't get the chance to convert them.

Funny thing is, I lose my Preferred Status today, so I could have kept those upgrades.

E-Upgrades contained in Silver Preferred and Gold Preferred members' banks will expire unless they are used or converted to miles before February 29, 2004

Note the BEFORE.

Reminds me of a now famous quote from a US exec: "Ours is an industry of fine print". Believe that was in defense of some language around sign up bonus for the Club that a Harvard law grad couldn't decipher.

Apparently, the one programmer US has was hard at work last night, the entire e-upgrade section of the mile summary page has already been deleted! Way to be on the ball US, now just get my upgrades right...and i will consider this a job well done

I did the same thing. Oh, well. Guess I dropped the ball on this one. I like to think that the knowledge I have acquired at Flyertalk and the miles earned based upon that knowledge greatly outweigh this oversight. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I probably would have used them on the shuttle anyway. Not exactly getting your "money's" worth.

Thank you for your support of US Airways."

My miles haven't posted yet, but they didn't hesitate to nuke my e-upgrade bank nonetheless.

Both times I converted, the upgrades were out of the bank immediately, and it took a couple of days for the miles to show up.

On a related note, any Golds or Silvers try to upgrade today? With the e-ups gone, and the unlimited not starting until Monday, how would you support an upgrade other than miles? Or are the GAs starting a day ahead of time?

To update my posting from yesterday, I checked my account today (3/1), and I did lose my Preferred status, but all my 500 mile upgrades have now re-appeared in my account.

Very nice job US Airways, as I thought I lost them.
