US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - one seat?
I saw a great rate on US Air web site. By mistake, I searched with 1 instead of two tickets needed. When I used 1 I got a great rate with great times. When I changed to two, I got the great rate but the time I need is gone. I have been checking for two days and still the good time only comes up when I search with 1 ticket needed. I called customer service and was told that only one seat is available at the lower rate. Can it be that this one seat is still open or do they keep adding one so people like me buy one at the great rate and the second at the high rate? Will there ever be two seats at the lower rate? All of you know so much, I hope I can learn something from you.

The flight you're looking at most likely only has one more seat available in that fare "bucket". For instance, US will only sell 20 (example) W class fares for a particular flight. Once those are sold out in order to get on that flight you need to buy a ticket that has that particular fare class still available.

When you try to book two seats, does it offer you both seats at the higher price, or one seat at the lower price, and the second seat at the higher price?
I suggest you book the first seat at the lower price, and then separately re-book the second seat (assuming it will offer you the same higher price it offered you when you tried to book both seats together). If this plan goes awry, you can always cancel the reservation(s) within 24 hours if you book on-line.
Note: I'm not sure if US can link two reservations made separately, as I've never tried to do this myself.

I ran into this exact situation when I booked my flights to LAX for last weekend. I ended up booking 1 ticket at the lower fare and then the second on another reservation at a slightly higher fare. When I searched for both at once, it only offered me the higher price on both tickets.

Regarding your PIT-LAS flights for 7/5 for the $164 fare you were trying to find:
The fare you are trying to book looks like TRA14N7 which is a T class fare. I just looked up the availability using smile67's tool and it is showing:
PIT LAS 0940 1129 US 625 F4 P4 A4 Y4 B4 M4 H4 Q4 V4 W4 S4 T0 757
So availability for the T class fare is gone. There may be a slight variance due to CRS<->airline updates but it looks like you're out of luck for a T fare. There's a S fare available for $184+ with availability but it does have date restrictions (Mon-Thu,Sat).

I would definitely try orbitz. They for some reason often have more discounted inventory even after it is zeroed out.
