Funny thing is, an article in today's NYT says this is in response to the new Southwest PHL fares. If that's true, I pity the US Airways Marketing folks even more than I already did.

Sucks that US is the only airline with this promotion that requires online purchase.
My company requires us to use their travel agent for all travel.

So does my company, but every time I've just bought my tickets online with my credit card, I've had no problem getting reimbursed, despite the policy.

I have to use a travel agent, too -- which means I won't be using this promotion. I'm CP on USAir, but there failure to match this deal (correctly) will cost them my business for the next few months -- I'm doing exclusively United (which has equally good routes to the city I usually travel to). (Oh yeah, I usually spend $1k a week on travel).
This promotion makes no sense.

Sorry mods. Scanning the title and reading "Will USAirways match UAL promotion" didn't ring a bell for me. Besides, this is not quite the same match, since UAL doesn't require you to book on their site, and there's no option for 3 more for first class with US.
Close this topic if you want.

Too bad the USAir website doesn't let me book online. This has been going on for about a year. I can get near the end (even pick seats sometimes), but then the site crashes and I need to call to get the ticket.
Also: All published First Class and Envoy Class fares are eligible as well as select Coach Class fares (Y, B, M, U, Q or H fare classes).

This definitely puts me in a bind.
I've found a great UA fare that I can do with a 90 minute turnaround for $114 that nets me 6 segs total (w/o really working it too tough). It qualifies for UA's fly3fly6 promo so that would be 1/3 the way for a free ticket.
I've got about 30k in my DM account and 1k in my MP account. It may be nice to credit to US to have the additional mileage/segments for counting towards preferred, but the free ticket is almost enticing enough to have all this credited towards my UA MP account.
So heres my questions to all:
1. Can I credit mileage to both MP and DM? (I know its a longshot but worth asking)
1a. If not, should I credit these towards my MP or DM account?

No.

You must credit the flights to Mileage Plus in order to get the free UA ticket.

OK, no double dipping - no problem.
What I'm really trying to figure out is whether I should go for the free ticket the UA way (fly 3 R/T's) and have all mileage post to my MP account or just accrue the flights on my DM account as I have status and 30k in the bank with DM.
Suggestions?
It depends on how much you value a free UA ticket.
Also, if you fly UA six times, you get a free coach ticket and a free First Class ticket on UA! (both lower 48 of course). US apparently matched only the fly three, get a free coach ticket.
I like free coach tickets, but I like free First Class tickets even better, so I took UA up on their offer and will be collecting 3 coach and 3 F tickets (two kids and I will fly). US' offer is useless IMHO.
