Can anyone recommend a shark tour outfit to use to see great white sharks in July? There are so many tour companies to choose from, I am hoping to get a recommendation.
Also, is it easy and safe to get cabs to and from the airport in capetown?

I booked with White Shark Ecoventures. My experience is dated to 2006, but I doubt they changed. You've probably seen the other tour operators, but they don't do anything much different. It's almost like booking a different "big bus tour" in London. You all end up going to the same place. While I was out there I saw three other tour boats plus a couple private ones. The area is not that far offshore, it took about 15 minutes to get there. I had a good experience. Three different sharks appeared over the course of the tour and there was plenty of time for everyone to get in the cage. This is highly variable though. Once you are out there, they will start chumming the water and when the first shark appears, they will put the cage in the water. 3-4 people should be able to fit in the cage at one time. Everyone is allowed 15 minutes for the first round until everyone who wants a chance gets it. You can then get again if you wish. The first shark made its' appearance about 15 minutes after we got in place and hung around for a bit, so there was time for two rounds in the cage. We were lucky, the few boats out there for the morning tour didn't see anything.
One word of advice. Even if you have never had motion sickness, take some medication along as a precaution. I never before or since have had the slightest bit of motion sickness, but the combo of rough seas (storm front moving through) and being anchored in place made me lose my lunch....literally. Just about our whole boat had varying degrees of problems, except the two couples who were prepared.
From the tour :)
