Don't think so. I think US is planning on installing wifi access in early 2004, but nothing yet.

There is a place called laptop lane at PHL between terminals A & B. Don't know about Wi-Fi, but they have ethernet hook-ups.

Yes I know that place, if you would surf for 2 hours it costs an insane amount of money. Thats why I asked for the hotspot. I looked up the tmobile hp- nothing at PHL nor PIT. Why is US lagging behind...? UA wireless in DEN is great! Thanks anyway

Posting on UA wireless from ORD right now. However, even UA is well behind AA on this. I think US told me in PIT it would be in by the end of the year. I was in the first class Acela lounge yesterday in Washington Union station and they had free wireless. Bravo Amtrak. By the way, Cathay Pacific has free wireless in their NRT club too. Thats a trend I really want to see.

The only wireless I know of at the PIT airport is near the AirTran gates and they use AirPath.

It appears that PHL will soon have wireless access throughout the airport:

Philly airport leads way in laptop hook-ups

Almost the entire Philadelphia International Airport will become an "802.11b hotspot" by the second week in October - putting it ahead of most other airports in the country.

I haven't used it yet....but did catch a blurb on the local news about the PIT airport installing FREE WiFi throughout the facility.

Again, I'm not sure if it's up...but it's definitely coming. When it is up....who cares about paying for T-Mobile.

When escaping Richmond this past Friday, I found a pleasant surprise at the airport....FREE WiFi ! I sat on the floor and surfed for a few hours while awaiting my flight.

The future is now.

Im currently in a Starbucks using free wireless. The Starbucks itself doesnt have wireless and was using my Bluetooth phone. Accidently turned on the wireless and got a signal. Turns out the hotel I am staying at has free wireless in the lobby and it leaks into Starbucks. There is a large and growing number of sites in Manhattan with free WiFi. It definately is the wave of the future. It costs so little for someone to install it and it is such an inducement to join the club, use the airport or whatever. People are too busy nickle and diming the customer instead of trying them to pick the carrier or club for bigger ticket things. Bah, but it doesnt matter, enough people are figuring it out and the technology is getting so cheap that free wireless will really be spreading.

I am assuming, based on this thread (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/Forum51/HTML/005879.html) that the SSID is "FLYPITTSBURGH".

Now, if it leaks upstairs into the clubs, all is good http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/wink.gif.

OTOH, since you can't smoke in the PIT clubs, I guess this means I can sip my sam adams, poison myself, and happily wi-fi away all in one happy location. Decisions, decisions....

One day too early! I was in the PIttsburgh airport waiting for a pickup, and went over to the AirTran gate where AirPath was cheerily willing to charge me $3.95/hour for internet access. I wouldn't have cared except that they wanted to charge me another setup fee, even though I already had an account.

Good to know about the free wifi. Will setup my laptop with a 'PittsburghAirport' profile!

I used the Wireless in PIT last week. It works in the food court area and at the gates. It was FlyPittsburgh. Great way to kill time in the airport.

Does anyone know the current status of wireless in Philadelphia? Is it working?

I'll be passing through this weekend, and hope it is up.

Alex-

I haven't been through PHL in a few weeks, but I believe I read in the newspaper here that wireless is up and running in PHL. It's provided through AT&T and I think it's $10/24 hr. period.

I would think that if your are in the USAirways club near the Center Core, you should be able to pick-it up there--and FREE. Can anyone confirm

. . . .passengers at the airport will be able to connect to the Internet through their laptop computers and PDAs (personal digital assistants) throughout the Airside Terminal's Center Core and A and B concourses. . . all free of charge and without plugging in.

I tried using the WiFi at both Clubs (Centre & B) this past weekend and couldn't pick up any signal at either club.

For any of those who are interested in wifi in the PIT airport...the club is no good. No free wireless there. However, you can get free wifi by the food area near McDonalds.

Hope this helps anyone.

In the current issue of Attache it says that they teamed up with T-Mobile and that more information would be available at www.usairways.com/club (http://www.usairways.com/club) - but there is no mention of it.

Yesterday PHL seems to have AT&T wifi all over the food court and maybe further? I didn't find any tmobile though, so didn't get logged on.
