I am a Canadian visiting Egypt in June, and I was wondering if there are any travellers here who can confirm that they still allow one to purchase a visa upon arrival at Cairo airport. The embassy in Ottawa says yes, but I would like to check with anyone who has been to Egypt in the last month or so.

I'm not Canadian, but that is the case for both US and UK nationals. If you have a pickup service, they'll confirm that (and usually have pre-purchased visas for you)

I can second that.
Usually there'll be a Money Exchange before Immigration where most of the Western Nationalities can buy Visas.
It's the fastest way.

Yes - you can buy on arrival.

Although I have better peace of mind going through the Embassy in Ottawa which I did for $26 CAD.

You don't need one for the Sinai Peninsula only if your travels are limited to Sharm el Shiekh etc..

I'm an American and I flew into Cairo with a friend in November and we both purchased our visa stamps right there. Takes 5 minutes, and I believe the cost was $10 or $15 USD.

I arrived in Cairo ten days ago and purchased my visa at the airport (US citizen). FYI, there is no signage telling you how/where to do that; what you need to do is go to one of the currency exchange counters before getting in line for immigration. Hand them US$15 and they will hand you a visa sticker.
