Diners Club Club Rewards - Replacement card - the good, the bad, the ugly

My DC card expired at the end of February and the new card did not make an appearance (despite the retention bonus ).

I waited patiently to see if it would appear after the expiration as I didn't wish to have a new account number.

I didn't even think about this for 2-3 weeks since I had several trips back-to-back (except when I kept pulling out my expired DC card) and finally called customer service before a longer trip around 23.3.

I asked for the replacement card to be overnighted since the original card obviously wasn't making an appearance any time soon and the rep said there would be an extra charge. I didn't have time to wait for a manager so I told her just to mail it. Naturally, the card never came. I waited patiently but the day before my trip it still hadn't come so I called and the gentleman I spoke with was very surprised that the rep told me that it would cost extra to overnight the card.

Since it was night time, we jointly agreed I would wait until the morning mail came (just in case the card made a last minute appearance) since it wouldn't impact when a replacement card would be sent out.

A supervisor called me as promised the next morning, I advised that the 2nd card still hadn't come and explained that I was leaving for Europe and needed it sent there overnight.

Not only did she send the card (and it arrived promptly that Friday at my first hotel), but she credited me my membership fee to boot. Plus my retention bonus remained intact.

YMMV.

P.S. Of course now that Amex doesn't charge FX fees, I have to question whether I would use my DC overseas.

I hate Diners Club...I keep holding on to this card in hopes that they will do something to bring back some of its former glory. Nothing has changed, and this card still costs $100 a year! The only reason I keep it, is that I know I cannot get another one.

I'm with you on that too; I stopped using the card ever since they took away the Club Plus. If they don't do anything soon it's Bye Bye DC.

I still like my personal DC card.
Earlier this year, I got my newer card and was surprised to find the CITI logo on it. Last week, I realized I had lost that card. Yesterday, my newest card arrived. No CITI logo on it; small print on the back states issued by Harris. ;)

I just keep it for the primary rental car coverage....worth the annual fee right there.

Just got a citi/bmo transition update... Replacement cards with the new diners logo and harris bank are being sent out currently. Citi will continue to service diner's club until August, when it will switch over to Harris BMO servicing. They wouldn't tell me exactly what this entailed but I think its safe to assume new customer service, new statements and new online website for account access.

My wife and I just received new CB cards unsolicited and year before our previous cards expire. The bonus is they still have the Citi logo.... oooops!! Someone may want to look into the stock of CB cards, or maybe we are the last two holding!
