A little background--I used to be in very good to excellent shape (under 10% body fat) for a few years, before I ramped up my (mostly leisure) travel. I'm still in good shape, with a renewed emphasis on the gym (minus the twice-weekly sessions with a trainer). I've just started a new job which will require heavy travel. I'm looking to stay in shape and improve my overall fitness. I've heard about P90X---has anyone done this program? My understanding is that it is doable for someone on the road several days out of the week. Thoughts?

There are a couple of posts here (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/travel-health-fitness/1190534-traveling-workout-bands.html) that mention it briefly. I think that whatever gets you exercising is a very good start and this looks very good and simple. I have the program but haven't gotten around to changing from what I currently do to it.

This might help too P90X (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/omni/714866-p90x-workout-program.html).

It's an intense program that works well.

My only problem with it is the amount of time it takes.

Often when on the road I don't have the hour or more required to do the workouts.

Same here. I think that anything that you do intensely for an hour each day is going to get solid results. There's nothing particularly unique to P90X in that regard.

The reality for most people is that they won't be able to do an hour's worth of the P90X routine from the get-go, so it's going to take more than 3 months. And you're only going to get out of it what you put into it, i.e., if you push the intensity level for the full 60 minutes, yeah, you might end up looking like some of the people in their commericals, but if one's effort is anything less, well, the body will match (not to mention the impact of one's eating habits). Not that that's a bad thing. Just the reality.

I did, and still do, P90x. I found Insanity works better for me. Insanity is a much quicker workout and requires no equipment. The workouts are about 40 minutes and I am able to do them in a hotel room, or anywhere else I happen to be.
When I first got the DVDs I thought the workout was insane and I would never be able to do it. I just kept doing them and am not dead tired after the workout anymore.
Just a thought.
