I am flying into YYZ with CX (Terminal 3) on award. Continuing to YUL on separated ticket. is Westjet easier to transfer than AC. I know that AC is in T1, but does it make a long and tiring (2 suitcases) difference? The advantage of AC is that I am *G. But WS is cheaper. Is a 2:05 connecting time enough?
Sorry for a newbie question, but I have never been transiting at YYZ nor using WS.

WestJet flights to Montreal depart from Terminal 3, so 2:05 transfer time should be plenty.

I recently recommended that a friend of mine arriving in YYZ on BA, and then continuing onwards to YEG, use WS for her onward travel due to both airlines being in the same terminal. She's not an experienced traveller, so I figured it would be best to keep things simple by having her transfer airlines in the same terminal.
However, transferring from CX (T3) to AC (T1) is easy if you're an experienced traveller. Collect your bags, go up to the inter-terminal train in T3, then back down in T1 and check-in with Air Canada.
2:05 should give you enough time, even transferring over to T1. Your *G status will get you a quick priority check-in at AC as well.
Whether paying the extra $$ for *G benefits on award travel is worth it, is entirely up to you.
