This review is for the Holiday Inn Express at Stresemannstrasse 49.
This property is a 10 minute walk along a well traveled road from the U-Bahn station at Potsdamer Platz. I was given a small tin of mints on arrival I stayed on a 2 for 1 rate that brings the nightly price down to 29.50 euros ($42 per night).
This is a good sized Holiday Inn Express with six stories and over 200 rooms. I was on the 4th floor in a quiet end unit. The property adjoins an open field on one side and an NH Hotel on the other. There are two restaurants across the street, one being Italian, as well as a market that is open Mon-Sat 0800-2200. Along the walk to Potsdamer Platz there's other restaurants as well as a doner kebap shop (popped in there and had a doner kebap and Diet Coke for 5 euros at a table). There are also other hotels at the next intersection from the hotel (Movenpick, Novotel Suites, Ibis, Etap) so this is an area being developed still.
There is an S-Bahn station closer to the hotel but I did not use it. Just seemed more convenient to go up to the U-Bahn station at Potsdamer Platz for when I needed to get around. Potsdamer Platz is home to the Sony Center which has a movie theater and restaurants. There is also a three story shopping mall and casino.
Wired internet in room is 4 euros for up to one hour, 10 euros for up to 3 hours, and 15 euros for up to 24 hours. There is one free PC in the lobby with a German keyboard (I have a horrible time writing e-mail with these keyboards so sought out free wi-fi in Berlin instead).
Breakfast consists of meusli, cereals, croissants, toast, rolls, yogurt, as well as a selecton of sliced meats and cheeses. Three photos here and more linked below.
