US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Award redeposit

Hi. I just got an email noting a significant change on an award ticket -- the new flight now leaves more than 3 hours earlier, making it somewhat dicey for me to be able to make because of an earlier commitment that day. If I can't get out of that and need to make other travel arrangements, will US Airways let me redeposit miles without a fee? If not, what would the redeposit charge be for someone with no status? About a year ago I had booked a discount coach award for travel out of ALB.

About 3 weeks before departure I got an email from reservations noting a change in my flight plan. With the change, there would be no way that I could make it to the airport in time. (I needed to arrive 4 hours before I initially planned to)

A quick call and they redeposited my miles & I wound up purchasing a ticket on a flight where there were no discount coach awards left. I never pushed to have my ticket changed to this flight even though there were no awards available - but if I really needed to...I have a feeling that it could have been done.

In my experience across a broad range of status (US1-US3 and friends/family as US4), US will redeposit award miles when a schedule change has occurred for free.

In fact, for that matter, they've done it for me on paid tickets, as well (full refund).

Different question on the same topic. As we all know, CPs can cancel award reservations and redeposit the miles without a fee. Does this apply to United, Qantas, and other partner flight awards as well, or just to awards on US metal?

I redeposited US awards on UA metal with no fee as a US1.
