I have two one way transatlantic upgrades which were sent to me for making gold status. They say non transferable on them, but I've found in this game not everything is as it seems http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
Does anyone know of a way to gift these to someone else?

Nope. They check your # against your ticket when you use them. Sorry!

Do they allow them to be used on partner codeshare flights or maybe a domestic flight?

Also along the same lines. I've got them too, and obviously, they're expiring soon. Can you use the upgrade and credit it to UA? (Probably not, but thought I'd ask.)

The transatlantic upgrades given to Preferreds are non-transferable. Your DM number must be in the record for the upgrade to go through. As others have posted, trying to plug in your UA number after the fact screws things up.

Does anyone know if they can be exchanged for miles in the event that they are about to expire (and if US is still around)?

You can exchange them for 1,000 miles each.

The only way you can "transfer" them to someone else is to be on the same flights and you give up your seat to them. Then again that would defeat the whole purpose of using them in the first place. However, I recall someone on the FT board here offering a paid roundtrip ticket to Europe for a elite preferred member in exchange for their upgrades. Not too bad, you get the miles and they get the better seat and food.
Secondly, the transatlantic upgrades can be used transcon as well along as the same flight number applies. ie. LAX-MAD connects in PHL but is the same flight number so you could essentially use it LAX-PHL as well.

It says it on the back of the certificates in the terms & conditions.

Although I'm not sure, I think what idealflyer said above is true on other routes. I think US operates direct flights to places like LGW from BWI with a stop in PHL, with the same flight number, so I'd presume you'd be able to use the upgrade on that flight, or a simliar one so long as the flight # remains the same.
