US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Transferability of domestic e-upgrades. . .

[I searched and searched but could not find where this has been previously answered. Although I am sure it has. . . ]

My dad (GP) has about 50+ unused e-upgrades. I (SP) have a whopping 3. My wife and I will be doing some domestic travel in the next two months (before the auto-upgrade goes into effect) and I wanted to know if we could take any of his 500 mile certs to use ourselves. Otherwise he's just going to convert them to miles as March 1 gets closer.

Also - on a different topic. I finally found my preferred transatlantic upgrade certs that will be expiring in 2 or so months. As I won't be doing any international travel before they expire, is there anything I can do with them? I see from a recent post that they are not transferable, but can they be converted to miles or in any way used for something other than kindling?

I don't believe you can use your Dad's 500 mile upgrades. The transatlantic upgrades can be turned into USAir for 1000 miles each. Send them in or drop them at a Customer Service counter at the airport. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

You can not use your father's upgrades unless he is travelling with you on the exact same flights and can upgrade you as a companion. Otherwise - there is no way for you to use them.

Once when I was upgrading a companion using e-upgrades, I saw an entry on my upgrade statement that said "printed upgrade." If you got a friendly CSR maybe they would be able to print your fathers upgrades out. I'm assuming they print out like a boarding pass. Then maybe you could use them, but then again, they may have your fathers name. Did not actually see what kind of cdocument printed out. But nothing harmed in asking if you get a good vibe from a US agent with your father.

You can't use them. However, tell your dad to turn them in (call dividend miles) & convert them into miles before March 1, 2004. 50x500 miles = 25,000 miles = free domestic ticket. If he doesn't convert them, they become worhtless.

Sorry that you can't use them, but good news for your dad.
