US AIRWAYS TO ADD AUGUSTA FLIGHTS FOR MASTERS GOLF TOURNAMENT
ARLINGTON, Va., January 9, 2004 --- US Airways announced today the expansion of its service to Augusta, Ga., to provide customers more nonstop routes and frequencies to one of the world’s most renowned golfing events, the 2004 Masters® Golf Tournament. The expanded service will begin April 3, with additional flights continuing until April 12, 2004.
US Airways will augment its six-times daily Charlotte-Augusta turboprop service with two additional daily roundtrip flights. In addition, US Airways will implement special nonstop service between Augusta and Boston, New York LaGuardia, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Washington Reagan National, using 50-seat regional jets operated by US Airways Express carriers.
"Many of our customers are anxious to attend the Masters each year, and we are pleased to once again accommodate with expanded service," said B. Ben Baldanza, US Airways senior vice president of marketing and planning. "This special service allows customers in communities throughout our network the opportunity to easily travel to one of the most anticipated golfing events of the year."
The additional Charlotte-Augusta flights will operate April 3-12. Special nonstop service to Philadelphia will operate April 5-12. Augusta-New York service will operate daily April 7-12, except April 10. Boston, Pittsburgh and Washington National flights to and from Augusta will operate April 9, 11 and 12.
