So, I'm in CLE for two months. What spots would you recommend? Tehy should be reachable by public transportation.

Thanks!

Never took public transportation in Cleveland, so I can't confirm, but this was great.

Unfortunately, being limited to public transit in Cleveland will restrict your choices quite a bit. I assume you will be staying downtown?

You can take the rapid to West 25th St, where there some good places, although none that I would really describe as a diner or burger joint. Bar Cento, is a little bit of a more hip scene, but the food is really good.

If you can get to Tremont, there are many fantastic restaurants. Sit at the bar at Lolita and order the burger.

If you ride the green or blue line to Shaker Square, Fire is more upscale; Sarava is great for Brazilian tapas; and I've heard great things about Zanzibar for soul food.

If you somehow can get to more out of the way areas, the two obvious picks for diner-type joints are Melt (fancy grilled cheese and related sandwiches, amazing beer list) in either Lakewood or Cleveland Heights and B Spot (burgers, bratwurst, and beer) on Chagrin Blvd in Beachwood.

B Spot and Lolita, as well as the very pricey for Cleveland Lola on E. 4th St, are all run by Michael Symon, whose name will ring a bell if you watch Iron Chef.

Quaker325, thank you for your advises! Sounds good. Actually I'm not downtown but on the Cleveland Clinic campus.

Has a hiipie vibe, great burgers and good vegetarian options plus fantastic milkshakes.

If you're on the Cleveland Clinic Campus, someone will be making a lunch/sandwich run to Gallucci's just down the road. 6610 Euclid Ave.
You have to at least have one of those sandwich's that put so many in the Clinic.

Edited to add:
It won't take much convincing to get someone to make a run to Slyman's also.

If you can finish off one of their sandwiches in one sitting, you're most likely a patient at the Clinic....
