Washington D.C. (including Baltimore) - IAD Help!
Flight from PHL-IAD is about 2 hours late. How long will it take me to get from Terminal A to Terminal C at IAD? (Never been)
I suspect we will leave PHL between 4:00-4:15 and my IAD connection departs 5:25.

You will have to take the Airtrain... and then hoof it to your C gate which may or may not be close. It's going to be dicey..where are you connecting to?

really depends of the actual gates but 15+ minutes would be average. If you caught the train just right and the gates are close maybe 10 mins.
If we get out of here by 4 I'll feel a little better.
Connecting IAD-LAX. Have to be in LAX by 1030 to catch next leg!

According to flight status you should depart at 3:43 and arrive at 4:42..which gives you plenty of time... unless you've been given other info on ATC delays.
I'm going to assume you're on IAD-LAX departing at 5:25... it's at gate C8.. not too far from the train station. I'd say as long as you arrive at IAD and are able to retrieve your gate checked carryon (if any) by 5:05 you should be able to make it. Any later and you're pushing it.

Connecting IAD-LAX. Have to be in LAX by 1030 to catch next leg!The good news is... even if you miss your flight to LAX there is another one at 7:05pm getting in at 9:50pm..and there is availability. No matter what you should be able to make it tonight.
No way we're leaving at 3:43, FlightAware still shows the inbound 10 miles out of PHL. Still have to park, offload, and load.
And regarding the later flight, while yes that's "good" news, I'm currently booked in C on the 777 at 5:15, no F avail on the next one. (I know, I'm picky now!)
Any suggestions on quickest way to get to the Airtrain or whatever I need to in order to get from A to C?

There's only one way to get there and that's just to follow the signs. The suggestion: RUN!

Don't forget the suggestion to run on both ends of that trip! When the airtrain gets to C, you still have a 5-7 minute hike to get into the terminal itself ... lower C gates are to the right, higher C gates and the D gates to the left.
Good luck, it is going to be tight! (Hope your entire itinerary is on one PNR)

Well it looks like BigErn's flight arrived at IAD at 5:01... and IAD-LAX left 1 minute early at 5:24pm. Did you make it BigErn?

Hope he did ... I just got IAD and DCA warnings of delays for arriving flights due to thunderstorms in the area
Ran my ... off and made the connection with literally seconds to spare before the door closed, and then sat on the runway for 1.5 hours with the weather delay. :)
Thanks for everyone's help!

I'm a bit confused on how to quickly make it from D2 to A6 in a couple of days. Is it better to walk to the C terminal and grab the train, or take the shuttle from the D gates over to A gates? Assuming I arrive on time, I will have a 50 minute connection.

That is tough and could go either way. I would only go for the train, if you like to walk, walk fast and the concourse isn't crowded. Otherwise, I'd head for the a shuttle as the most direct connection point. Note that the buggy docks right next to the gates you need, whereas the train requires a bit more of a walk in the a terminal, as well

Take the shuttle, it's much easier. The shuttle from A to D only runs at specified times (United's Peak Connection Banks) so without knowing the times, you should be ok. The shuttle leaves across from D16 and drops you off 20 seconds away from A6.

Third ET12 and Goingaway. The shuttle, for all the complaints, is still a quick trip.

I ended up trying both options for my trip. Took the shuttle from D gates to A gates on Thursday, and used the train on Saturday to get from A gates to C gates.
The amount of walking for the train seems absurd, as such I will use the shuttle for all future connections at IAD.

Absurd? You are being kind :(

That's really annoying...happened to me at EWR last week. Glad you made it!
