Hmm, I wonder if this is targeted. I'm at almost 275,000 miles for the year and my statements have never had that message.

My email statement is the same as my kids' non-elite statement. No mention of qualifying for Gold or fly more and renew CP and carry over the excess.

If non-targeted, this solves my conundrum of whether to push to renew AA PLT or fly US more. Naturally I will fly US more under present circumstances but maybe I am so much a cockroach they would prefer to show me the roach motel. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

This sounds like good news! Let me be the first to say:

<font face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size="2">Yay Ben!</font>

Let's hope this is a sign of things to come (meanwhile keep your hand on your wallet and double check the fine print daily...)

I don't see how it could be targetted -- it wouldn't make sense for some CPs to get the carryover benefit and others not to. OTOH nobody ever promised that this stuff would make sense... In any event -- it seems more likely that they've only recently decided to do it again this year and that those of us who had already made it (CPRich made it back in '01 and is good through 2020...) haven't triggered the "congratulations!" code.

I got my statement back in July, and it mentioned the carryover miles.

Of course, at the time I only had 155 carryover miles, but still... http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

There is no way this is targeted.

Uh, well, I, uh.......

Actually, I had just assumed that they were going to continue to do it every year.

Sorry, gardener!! (And anyone else who needed to know 2 months ago!!!)

Well this just shows you that our ongoing efforts are having an impact. Perhaps we are whittling away at the "cartel carrier" mindset at CCY.

There is no bigger critic of BBB on these boards, but when he makes a sound business decision like this you have to applaud him. So here it is Ben straight from PineyBob in print.

WELL DONE! KEEP IT UP!

I e-mailed the US1 desk. I'll report back when I get a firm response. At this rate, I'm US1 for many years, assuming they continue rolling over, without flying one mile. Logically, they should probably subtract miles rolled over from prior years before calculating the rollover amount, but I guess we shouldn't give them any ideas.

Does this include actually flown tier miles
only. Or does it include tier miles gained
via double tier mile targeted promos. I am
weary as usual there is a catch!

Have been stalled at 98,000 since July 1,
waiting to hear about rollover. Meanwhile
I was comped HP Platinum status, and have booked 60,000 of required 75,000 to maintain status for next year. US lost this business
because they didn't want to commit to this
offer this coming year. As well, now my
200K miles a year will be split with more flexibility between west coast cities with
out worrying about UA being there in the fuure to get to other west coast markets not served by US

Also was recently targeted for the useless
CP challenge with only 2000 miles left for
CP status next year. In my first year and a
quarter I was targeted for everything, but
once I hit CP status I had to beg for double tier miles. And now they target me for this useless challenge? Don't understand this
mentality that once you're a CP your a CP for
life without maintaining you without promo
marketing.

In between computer games, "Darth" Baldanza must be licking his chops watching Continental hand the rubber key to it's high milers. Can the latex be far behind for us? Meantime enjoy those extra carryover miles, as more and more major routes see RJ's. Why, I can almost hear the sound of those wrenches, as 16 first class seats are yanked out of each of those nice big 757's.

My experience over the last 2 years is that they simply subtract 100,000 from your year-end Tier Miles number and add that to your next-year counter. In a world of various tier-mile bonuses, this can add up to significant miles being carried over.

(..and over and... hello, '09...)

this will be a great benefit, since i am currently sitting 99,599 miles and am leaving thursday (09/25) for germany. i also have several other trips planned for the end of the year.

i have heard/read rumors that there are special perks for 150,000 preferred miles per year in addition to the rollover miles (free club membership or something like that). does anybody know any details about this?

This was true last year - I am not sure (doubt) if they give out memberships to non-members but they extend your existing membership for free, and make it coincide with the Preferred cycle. I had just renewed myself thru 12/03 and so I got a whopping two months thru 2/04. I had 153K tier last year. I have 115K tier now (including the 53 carryover from last year). Now that Ben has given me an incentive to keep flying US, I'm going for 150K.

This is great, I'm at 199,000 for this year, so that means I requalified for next year already. Well after my trip to MCO posts. But this is great. Also, now I must inquire how to get my club membership extended until feb, mine is to expire in Nov.

BillMorrow

I got a free club membership for this year by just barely clearing 150K miles last year.

With the carry-over, I should be at 130K by the end of next week. This certainly gives me an incentive get the extra 20K for what will hopefully be another free year in the club.

Folks -

An agent from the DM Service Center e-mailed me the following this morning: "At this time we do not know if we will offer the rollover of miles or segments."

Did folks actually receive this notice in their monthly statement e-mails?

What if you reach 150k miles with the preferred bonus? Would that still count towards free club access?

I just got off the phone with Consumer Affairs, and Carry over is a go. They didn't inform the DM center before sending the estatements. So I have a name and contact should any problems come up. But they are rolling over miles for next year. I don't know about segments, sorry forgot to ask.

I checked my DM balance this morning and my rollover miles haven't posted yet ... so I put "rollover" in the search box and within 30 seconds discoverted they're not supposed to post until March 15, 2004. Instead of posting a new topic with a silly subject like "where are my rollover miles" I thought I'd bump this up for everyone.

Im waiting for baited breath for my rollover and CP status to post.

Had 99,200+ before Wednesday. My express flight was 500 miles; the PHL-SAN flight would have put me over.

So, my guess is that by Saturday the flights should post and the elite level status should click over.

*mumbling under his breath*

You're relatively new here so I'm going to give you the benefit of doubt, I don't know whether you're kidding or not ...

You're right, if you type "rollover" in the search box nothing comes up, if you type rollover in the search box (no quotation marks) a handful of subjects comes up discussing this program for CP's that has been run for the past few years.

Back to topic - Has anyone else received confimration of rollover? I have not seen the paragraph in gardener's post in any of my statements, and I haven't seen anything more official. My e-mail inquiries to DM went unaswered. This couldn't possibly be targeted, could it?

Your problem may be that you qualified for CP through 2010 so it destroyed the computer program and you never got the message. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif I did get a sentence in my email statement after after I hit the 100 mark (with rollover) that over 100 segments and 100K miles would rollover.

I have also not seen notification in my statements, though with carryover (and some double mile promotions) I ended the year with over 220,000 miles. However, I did talk with the CP desk two weeks ago and the representative with whom I talked confirmed that there will be carryover from 2003 to 2004.

Somewhat unrelated, but I have not yet received my CP kit (with companion upgrades) for 2004. Though I can't remember exactly, I would guess that I reached 100,000 miles by September (and if you include the 45,000 carried over from 2002, I reached 100,000 by May or June).

I'm reasonably sure that they mail all the renewal kits at the same time, in Feb.

for davidl - and to be more specific - they only send kits 'during the year' when you go up a new status level than your current level (eg GP-&gt;CP).

You were CP all year - requalifying is what they 'expected' you to do. You now will have the same status for next year, and they will reward you with your 'kit' in Feb/March 2004.

On the same note, if you went up a level during this year, you wont get a kit with goodies in Feb/March.
