The Sixt website (http://www.sixt.com/car-rental/usa/) seems to indicate many US locations but I haven't been able to get any rates other than Miami. Is there a list of actual US locations? Thanks.

I had the same thing, but thought they were sold out. Have a booking in MIA in two weeks so will see how they compare to Europe when it comes to the fleet. They were though the cheapest for a 3 day rate

Hi seawolf,

We do have locations in the US and the list of locations are viewable on the Sixt website.
I will contact my colleagues to find out why you are unable to check rates at the moment for other US locations other than Miami.

I will come back to you as soon as possible with some more information.

Thank you,
Marie at Sixt UK

Are you sure MIA is an actual Sixt location, not a partner agency?

Hi Auto Enthusiast,
Yes the Miami International Airport location is a Sixt branch and not a partner agency. We only opened our Sixt location in February and are based in the Rental Car Centre.

Kind Regards,

If these are all Sixt, not partner, agencies, the list mentions US locations in rural Iowa and Montana. A small town airport in FL, MLB, is also listed, although I haven't seen any Sixt signs the last time I visited relatives there. Is the list accurate?

Hi,
The only Sixt location in the US currently is Miami International Airport. At all our other locations in the US we use a partner.

Kind Regards,

Will sixt expand in the USA and open branches all over?

What benefits can I expect as a sixt diamond if I rent from Sixt in JFK? Is the partner aware of double upgrades... ?

What company do you use at JFK?

May I ask which companies these are? And btw, I only see Prepaid rates e.g. in Denver and San Francisco, will this also change?

And as feedback, the webpage is suggesting, it is a ownSixt location. May I suggest, to add a note, because it is a little bit misleading, esp. if you look at the SIXT company webpage and the Sixt location, there is no word of partner locations.

But great to see you in the US ^

Dear Flygva,

your are right, point taken. I'll speak with our colleagues in our HO to separate on our site clearly between Sixt owned locations and third party suppliers.
Just to give some background information:
Sixt is currently present in Miami and we are planning to expand soon further into Florida. Nothing is official yet, but we are of course looking at the other big airports.
Our strategy is here quite simple:
- We want to offer European/German cars to the US consumer/traveller.
- We have of course also American cars on offer, but those mainly targeted at European tourists.
It may sound strange, but many Europeans expects cars such as the Mustang convertible when renting in the US.

I know the Sixt US Executives very well and will keep you posted of any developments. Please let me know if you or any of your friends need a favour with Sixt, we are always happy to help.

kind regards, Per

Tried to book for LAX, which comes up as a rental location. While desired dates showed "no offers", I tried numerous dates throughout May, but got no takes whatsoever .... ?......

Rented for the first time in Miami. Seemed very energy buzzed staff and walked out as platinum with a 3 series. I don not know why someone would prefer a mustang to a 328i but hey everyone has their preferences. Their rates are competitive and their fleet nice. I always liked sixt as they make you understand that as valuable platinum they'll do whatever it takes to make you happy. Hope they'll do LAX and NYC next.

There was a problem booking on-line which is now fixed.

I'll try to answer from my own limited perspective. In Europe, the large, gas guzzling, soft riding American cars are probably considered somewhat of an impractical exotic choice. In addition, over there American cars are imports and European are local, and this comes through in the pricing, which makes the American cars even less of a practical choice. When a European tourist comes to the US he can finally let loose and get some authentic American experience rather than having yet another "boring" BMW. I can totally see myself being all over a Mustang convertible if I were visiting from Europe.

Gary, FYI, I just tried 6 different dates for May, 1 and 3 day rental periods at LAX. The site keeps displaying
"Unfortunately, no offer could be found for the requested rental dates"

Sixt Business must be good in L.A. ;)

I am a Sixt Gold member but unable to do any business with them here in the US, not even through their former partners. Obviously that is their idea of "expanding" they used to have partners here in AZ, I was able to rent a Sixt car even at small airports like Falcon Field, Mesa. I believe that there was a location in Orlando and other major cities in the US.

Sorry Sixt, I tried to be loyal to your company but I did not have any other choice than to switch to Avis. Strange way of doing business...

Hello Per,

if a US renter has a rental from MIA and her/his plans change so that s/he must fly back from JAX or whatever, does the renter have a reasonable opportunity to return the vehicle to what you refer to as partners at the airport of return?

Best regards,
S.

We are sorry that you can't use your card at our ex partner locations. Maybe in time the location in the U.S where you can use your card will increase.

Hi Scandi777

It would only be possible to return the vehicle to a Sixt location.
