"Americans have donated their unused frequent flyer miles to the Department of Defense to help troops travel home and spend quality time with their loved ones, without worrying about how much it will cost."

http://www.heromiles.org/

"Airlines Currently Accepting Donations:

AirTran
Alaska
American
Delta
Pan Am
Southwest
United"

Someone's missing....

This is disappointing. I suggest we flood the consumer affairs folks with emails. These military folks are the ones who make it all possible for the rest of us.

You're right!

Please donate miles from FF programs that you don't frequently use. I donated some UA and Delta miles last week, considering I rarely fly them and I can put them to better use by donating them to people in need.

This is a great idea. I hope US gets on board.
In the meantime all my orphan UA and AA miles go to the troops. Thanks for passing this on.

Apparently, you just had to ask ... who says US doesn't listen:

Good for them!

If you wrote asking they join, or even if you didn't, write thanking them for joining. Positive reinforcement is just as effective, if not more so, as negative.

And cheers to CO for also joining. That puts the bullseye squarely on NW now.

Fellow FT's, now we need to take the time and make our miles donations to "Operation Hero Miles" and show our Holiday spirit. Thanks U!

NW is just pathetic for backlashing against this great cause. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif
