Just completed a flight today LAS to PHL (new D terminal nice, security line...worse than PHL). One of the FAs told me that US leaving PIT was a done deal and that she heard US would be opening a new hub in Indianapolis giving them greater access to the midwest market. Anyone hear anything about this?

I would not expect a flight attendant (or PILOT) to have "the inside scoop". They have lots of rumors and good stories but something like this will not come out via such a channel.

The PIT for Indy rumor has been floating around for a while. It's interesting in an academic sort of way but it seems unlikely for a lot of reasons.

What's next, US is going to open hubs in DAL, HOU, MCI, MDW, LAS and PHX?

US used to have a focus city type presence (wouldn't call it a hub) at IND years ago (I flew CLT-IND-LAX back in 1993). But it was pulled down a while ago. Talk of creating an IND hub has been out there, but since US now has the codeshare with UA - an IND hub wouldn't make sense at all, with ORD and PIT on either side of IND.

I would be very surprised if IND became a hub (or mini hub like it was a few years back (~mid to early 1990's).

Perhaps they were discussing the new terminal?

Currently US operates mainline flights to CLT, PHL and PIT, plus RJs to BOS, DCA and LGA from IND. They do have a USAirways Club left over from the Focus City days. I remember there used to be a 727 that flew LGA-IND-MCI-LAX. Talk about your milk run!
