US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - upgrades

I'm flying PIT-SFO on Wed 12/10, planning to use 500 mile segments to upgrade if possible. This will use up my available upgrades. I'm returning from SFO to PHL on Tues 12/16. The 12/10 flight puts me over the threshhold for additional 500 mile segment upgrades. How soon after I fly on 12/10 will the upgrades be avialable for me to use? Will they let me standby for an upgrade before those segments appear in my account?

After 2 or 3 days those e-upgrades will show up in your account.

The PHL-SFO flight is 2516 miles so it will take 5 e-upgrades. If you are silver you will earn 4 for the 10,000 threshold and 8 if you are gold. What ever happened to the extra upgrdes for the 20,000 miles thresholds?

This is a great example of the delution of the upgrades since going to the 500 mile e-upgrades. A silver needs to fly 20K just to get a transcon upgrade.

I agree - it sucks! But 8 for golds every 10K is still better than both UA and AA.

What's worse is the amount you get when you attain a status level. I did a status challenge and I got 3 upgrades for SP and 4 for GP. That pretty much stinks...

No worse than United..

BTW, what happens to your upgrade bank when you make it to Chairman's???

E-upgrades are automatically converted to Miles at CP threshold, 500 miles for each one (I think)

The fact that CPs don't have an e-upgrade bank makes the transition from CP to GP particularly harsh, since suddenly you will have no e-upgrades at all...

Try uprading on a 737 with two count them 2 marshalls taking up 2 FC seats on a full FC cabin...NICE happened today PIT-DCA
