I am going to finish the year with 59 segments and 49,668 miles. I know it is subject to the airline's whim, but, in everyone's opinion, do you think that will be enough to keep me at gold?
Thanks
Thanks

Shuttle flights from DCA are about $130 roundtrip on Saturdays. Fly up to NYC, look at the tree and fly back. That way no worries. Welcome to Flyertalk by the way! With this thought in mind, I too would suggest a short 30 minute ride on the shuttle to LGA and back. In fact, on the weekends, you don't have to look at the tree or leave the airport. I took a "turn" and it gave me time to get some reading and project planning done. It just seems that the airline incentives and courtesies were far more forthcoming after 9/11 when people weren't flying but now all of those benefits have dwindled. I even recall a time when UA gave you the first two months of the new year to finish your qualification if you were within 10 segments of obtaining the next level in status. But with the shaky and often times inconsistent policies at US, I'd go ahead and take the trip and thus leave yourself in a stable position that is not contingent upon the kindess of Crystal City. Idowrite Dec 2, 03, 1:21 pm Wouldn't it be worth first calling and asking for a little help/clarification before you book at mileage run? jel Dec 2, 03, 1:48 pm Wanted to get some people's opinions before calling. As expected, the answer was: "we do not know at this time what (HQ) will set, but in years past, either 49,000 miles or 59 segments was close enough" I'll wait a couple more weeks and call again. I want to avoid any out-of-pocket expenses, but I will take a flight if I have to. Thanks MikeM6090 Dec 2, 03, 4:26 pm You will not have a problem. Write a letter to US Airways Dividend Miles Service Center P.O. Box 5 Winston-Salem, NC 27102-0005 USA I have been at 48,400; 46,500 and 49,300 before and written a letter. They called me a bit after 8 this morning to confirm me in row 1 on Friday to LGW. Grab an e-saver someplace, take "Sweet Thing" with you for a surprise romantic getaway. You keep Gold and I'll leave the rest of what you get to you. Have fun! Live life! I'm going to AMS just so I can make CP on miles instead of segments, that and I want to go to europe. I've managed to move to Row 1 several times on an upgrade ticket but only on the day of departure and only then because I've known the check in and flight staff. If you are registered in the UK and fly on a 'J' class fare then you automatically are seated in row 1 as a benefit of being "European Preferred" member. This is valid for Silvers, Golds and Chairmans. GadgetFreak Dec 4, 03, 6:59 am Hmm, this is my 6th transatlantic segment on US A330s this year and all have been on discount tickets and ungraded. All have been confirmed in row 1 at the 3 day window. I have been alone on all however, and that might make a difference.
