US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Any advantages of online checkin vs kiosk?

I know that if I check in via kiosk, there is a 1000 miles ontime bonus plus 50 miles for each additional check in. Is there a bonus for online checkin or any other advantages that make online checkin preferred?

The way I understand it (from the CP desk) is that the timestamp for upgrading is based on when you check in. You can check in on-line 24 hrs prior to flight, but the kiosk is only 4 hrs prior. Possibly a big difference in terms of where you end up on the waitlist.

It saves you one line to stand in. Sometimes the area around the kiosk's get congested.

But it is correct that your place in an upgrade queue is based on when you check in so online will get you higher on the list if that is important (ie have not already cleared the list)

I checked in at a kiosk two weeks ago and haven't received my 1000 mile bonus. Is that typical or do I need to contact DM?

A mileage credit post can take up to four weeks. But you can call the DM Service Center and they can post it to your account manually. Just be sure that you haven't received the credit from a previous flight check-in and forgot about it. That happened to me.

I got a 'Kiosk First Time Bonus' of 1,000 miles in July, even though I first used a kiosk in eaerly '02. I suspect it was a glitch, rather than a year-long delay (I don't have statements that far back). I have seen partner and other posts take 6-8 weeks, although US posts are usually very fast.

Give it a few more weeks.

Can you change seats via online check in? I'm flying BOS-MSY tom. and am considering it. Anyone know if a status-less pax like myself can grab bulkhead or exit row via online check in?

I''ve already got the 1k bonus and would think a prime economy seat (ok, enough of those chuckle) outweighs 50 miles.

thanks in advance

Yes, you do have the option of changing seats via on-line check-in. Someone I know who has no status on US told me he was able to snag the bulkhead in the rear cabin via on-line check-in. Good luck.
