US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Movies and Flight Times

What is the minimum flight time for US to show a movie now?
3:20 on an A320 PIT-DEN today and nothing. I kind of thought this was long enough to show something. I recall UA shows flicks even on the ORD-DEN (as of 4 months ago anyway).
Would not have been fun for those in 1 D/F as their screen didn't work at all.

I thought the shortest flight time for a movie was 3 hours...
I believe there is a outline on this under
the program and services menu at:
http://www.usairways.com/
Flew US 183 PHL-DEN yesterday, flight time of 3 hours 44 minutes...no movie or any IFE...a little ridiculous...
I imagine that LAX, SFO, SAN, and SEA must have movies at the least...what about LAS/PHX? Anyone flown there lately and can add to this?

Freaky Friday was the movie last week from LAS-CLT. But, I don't know if that is considered IFE. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I think they are only doing movies on flight four hours or over.
And even then they are not doing movies on redeyes no matter what. Oh, by the way no audio.
If you want IFE buy a ticket on UA.

And thank god too! It's a pain trying to sleep with the TV flickering. I suggested they dump movies on red eyes years ago!

I flew PIT-PHX RT a month ago, the movie was Bruce Almighty (both ways).
If there is no audio, why do they still list audio in the Attache magazine? Were the current issues all printed pre- 9/11?

There's audio on the transatlantic routes. I listened to Shania Twain coming back from LGW.
Bruce Almighty was also one of the options on the transatlantic flights last month.

Of course they have audio internationally, http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif but if someone can tell me they got anything other than filtered static domestically, I want that airplane's tail number.
I think they had audio domestically up to Feb or March of this year--before all of the inflight services went to hell. They probably continue to publish it because audio is offered on the A330 and 767 and every once in a while these birds make domestic runs.
But let's face it---if you want IFE consistently, or at least working IFE,US ain't your airline.

I just flew PHL-IAH this past week (a little over 3 hours), and, much to my surprise, they showed the movie (Pirates of the Caribbean). And the lead FA asked a few of us in FC if we were planning to watch the movie as they could use our unused headsets in the back since quite a few wanted to buy them. Goes to show that IFE could work...
My impression is that it all depends on the crew (and aircraft type, of course) whether you'll get a movie or not on these "midcon" flights.

One should note that UA's IFE isn't all that great. The movies tend to be older and I've somehow seen the same rerun of Scrubs 4 times on two r/ts DCA-ORD. Lots of commercials too. I do have to say, though, that I am a big fan of Channel 9. So cool.
US doesn't have IFE to DEN, which is why I always book the code share flights on UA.

Huh? 9 times out of 10 US and UA are running the same movies.
UA offers FREE IFE on 100% of their mainline flights. The % on US is much much lower. Plus, UA offers real, free headsets that aren't little pieces of crappy plastic you clip to your ear and still can't hear. If you are on a 767-300 or 777 domestically you get noise-cancelling headsets in business class and first--and you can flip in-between a selection of movies--not as good as Sony Passport but infinitely better than any of US's domestic offerings.
Sure you are going to get the same stuff especially if you fly in the same month.
