Las Vegas - Any suggestions on getting a better deal than this in Vegas

I am going to Vegas with my brother in mid April. booked an FHR rate at the Bellagio, $179/night for 3 nights. My second time in Vegas, his first time. Any thoughts on calling a few of the other nicer resorts and seeing if they would beat this deal. I tend to gamble more than my brother($25-$50/hand, nothing huge) I would not plan on losing more than 3k over those 3 days. Thinking about the possibility of comps and hearing that Bellagio is a little run down these days. Heard some great things about the Palazzo though. Any suggestions would be appreciated from the folks who go a lot

The Palazzo/Venetian is no longer comping rooms except to their highest rated players. They do have rates on par with the 179/night you would pay at the Bellagio. I agree with what you have heard that the Bellagio isn't what it used to be. The Palazzo and either of the Wynn properties are better, IMO, and they are usually close in price.

I would change my reservation to the Wynn. Then, after checking in, go to casino marketing. Discuss your play level with them. If you do $50 a hand they should comp your stay or at least some of it. Don't book through a third party site--they won't be able to change your rate if you have paid someone else.
This should get you comp nights, maybe food too.
PS: Try to avoid weekend nights.

I also heard that if I book an FHR rate that i probably won't get any comps. I assume they are considered a 3rd party site. The wynn is roughly $200 more than bellagio. Still worth it you think. What about location in comparison to Bellagio
200 more/night or 200 more for your three total days? If it is the latter I would pay the extra. If it is per night I wouldn't.
The Wynn is a little farther north on the strip from the Bellagio. Location wise the Bellagio is better if you are visiting all the strip hotels. If you aren't leaving the resort much the location of either doesn't matter.

I agree with TTBHG. Just want to mention that B is not the place it used to be.
Wynn is still a 5* property.

just double checked the wynn. Through FHR an additional $100/night, but direct through their website it is an extra $200 night. I will see what my brother wants to do. Some other places like MGM and Mirage are same as Bellagio, but they are probably a step below both of the above i would assume
Thanks for the insight
No way would I stay at MGM or Mirage if you could stay at the Bellagio for the same price.
At 100/night it probably makes a difference to you.
You might want to look at some of the citycenter properties as well. I have heard good things about Vdara, although I haven't stayed there so I can't give a personal recommendation.
I am not trying to sway you away from the Bellagio, I am just giving you food for thought. The Bellagio is a very nice property and was "the Wynn" before the Wynn came along. I doubt you will be disappointed by your stay there.

got it, thanks for all the input
You might want to check out the cosmopolitan as well. At $25-50/hand, it's not too bad, it just depends how many hours a day you play. Contact a host there and see what they can do for you.

Bellagio is still a great property with nice rooms even if they are a bit dated. Where Bellagio suffers in comparison to Wynn is in service.

Bellagio won't comp rooms at $25-50/hand, much less the Wynn. Best to hope for at that level is free buffets and maybe lower-priced restaurants. Really need to get above $100/hand or so for the hosts to get you to comp the room. I know last time my friend RFB'd in a standard room at Bellagio they actually wanted about $150 avg.

I'm not sure Cosmopolitan's smaller rooms are worth the money unless the condo-style amenities are really desired.
