US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-2005 America West merger) - UA 1K use Envoy Lounge in CLT
On 12/5 I fly DCA-CLT-LGW. I shooting for a DS0077 UG.
Two questions: 1. Can I get the CLT-LGW UG from the folks at DCA or do I have to wait for CLT?
2. If I don't get the UG, is a UA 1K eligible to use the Envoy Lounge in CLT?

1. Maybe, but not likely. You will probably have to clear at the gate in CLT.
2. There is no envoy lounge in CLT. There is a US Club, and once (if) you get your Envoy BP, you can use the club and get a few free drinks.

If you even more free drinks, time permitting, you could visit each of the clubs at CLT.
My flight DCA-CLT is US573 5:45-7:04 and CLT-LGW is US94 8:20-9:00AM.
The DS0077 allows checkin/UG no more than two hours before departure. That means I would be in the air at 6:20 when the UG seats become available.
Assuming 1Ks get placed somewhere near the front of the UG list, will they hold a seat, if available, even if I'm not there? Or can I make my case at DCA and try to squeeze a seat out of them before I take off.
What I'm afraid of is a seat opening up that I would otherwise get, but I won't be at the gate and...it will be gone by the time my plane lands. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/eek.gif http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/mad.gif
Any suggestions for dealing with this are appreciated. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

There is not an Envoy lounge in CLT, but there is an Arrivals lounge at LGW. You can only use this lounge if you fly Envoy to LGW. There are showers (main benefit) and a small area with a TV, chairs, drinks and some small things to eat. Also a small workstation area with phones and area to plug in.

1Ks can use *Gold clubs, but I'm not sure of US Clubs, especially Envoy, which sound a bit like the First Class clubs in *Alliance. Every airline, and it seems every airport seems to have a different way of reading the rules. But since there is no Envoy club at CLT it comes down to the US Club. I thought someone here might know about 1K entrance rules, but I can check the UA FT threads and probably dig it out there.
However, I'm really more concerned with getting the UG. Envoy sounds great. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/cool.gif I'd like to give it a try.
there seems to be more than 20 seats available on your CLT-LGW envoy flight (25 -- according to the seatmap) so I don't think not getting that upg should be an issue....

Star Alliance has done a good job of leveling the rules for lounge/club access. Because US is NOT a member of Star yet, your UA 1K status (Star Gold) officially does nothing for you at US Airways Clubs. This will change when US enters Star but for now, you have no official priveliges. UA RCC members DO have access to US Clubs if they are flying that day on US. Once US enters Star US CP's and Gold's will have Star Gold status and will have access to certain Star lounges around the planet. US Airways Clubs will be designated as Star Gold lounges so Star Golds will have access. I suspect the designated Envoy Lounges will remain dedicated only to Envoy passengers.
NOW, to add a twist, we have yet to see official ruling on UA 1K and Prem. Execs and US CP's and Gold Preferreds for DOMESTIC U.S.A. travel access to RCC and US Clubs as a Star Gold.
