South America - How to get to Uyuni

Hi

We're planning to go to the Uyuni salt flats later this year. We have a choice of flying into La Paz or Santa Cruz. Which is the easier or cheaper one to get to Uyuni? And any recommendations on bus companies or private transfers from either these place to Uyuni?

And what about tour companies in Uyuni? The idea is to make our way to San Pedro de Atacama in Chile from Uyuni - I suppose there are operators that can do that.
