Allright guys, now please don't laugh! but I am actually wondering if this is possible...
I have a SFO-PHL-CDG fligth coming up, where I am planning to upgrade, but the SFO-PHL leg in F is already full. Now, is there a way I can change the SFO-PHL to a SFO-CLT-PHL, and still use my upgrade (The F cabin for SFO-CLT is half full, and hte one on the CLT-PHL 80% empty), that leaves a couple hours before and get in PHL at about the same time. If so how would I go about doing that?

Thanks

The reroute would have to be done at gate agent discretion. While it is possible to standby, it is usually only possible on the same routing. Why not take an earlier flight to PHL?

because that's the first US air flight in the morning from SFO. I don't think there are any earlier flights than the 10:45am. Can anyone confirm that? thanks

Why would you want to go SFO-CLT-PHL-CDG??

I don't think they would let you do it and US F Class is so not worth it, I'd sit in an exit row on an A321 and be happy.

Also, by changing itineraries, they likely would have to reissue your ticket and you would lose your upgrade and/or position on the wait-list for PHL-CDG--not a chance I would like to take.

One of the reason would seem that this particular flight is completely Full in Y and F.
And on top of that I still like the F cabin, even with all the cutbacks! better than the Y though especially when Full.

Lastly I am not worried about my upgr from PHL to CDG shouldn't have any problem clearing it. (knocking on wood)
