Hey everyone. I searched but didn't find any threads discussing this:

I will be in MIA from about 8am-4pm (while doing the LAX-MIA MRs) in April. So I essentially have about 8hrs to burn.

I want to go to South Beach but want to know if anyone knows of a hotel which offers a day rate to use their pool facilities...if possible on the beach too. I know I could just go to the public beach but Id like some place that offers a lounge chair, drinks/food, clean bathroom, some place to store a bag etc. I can shower in the AC before leaving so I dont need a room/bathroom.

I suppose I would consider any hotels downtown or near the airport as well if none offer this service on South Beach. Just needs to have a good pool/atmosphere.

Any advice helps..thanks

Just to update my own thread with a finding for anyones reference:

Then Standard Hotel & Spa does offer day passes ($40/weekday, $75/weekend day) with allows you to access pools, gym, restaurant, etc.

Actually I have found that renting a car for the day (I do a lot of day trips to MIA from NYC when fares are cheap on AA) out of MIA on Priceline or Hotwire is cheaper than taking a cab back and forth. The garage on 13th street between Collins and Ocean is $5 for the day (the cheapest and closest to the beach). So I have a place to put my stuff and like the OP I just shower at the AC before going back to NY. Plus, I've had bad experiences with cabs. Most of the drivers seem to be strung out on drugs. I feel much safer with a rental car.

There's also the airport flyer 150 bus from the airport to south beach, but I'm not sure I'd rely on this if I had a tight schedule. I managed to miss one at the airport (not sure it ever arrived or if I just missed it) and it dropped off closer to the Loews resort rather than the Ritz. The MIA airport bus terminal is across from Concourse E and even though the 150 is marked as the first slot on the driveway, it might show up anywhere along the line and look like a regular bus with a luggage rack.

I've also read that the Spa at Icon Brickell/Viceroy offers a day pass for $40 and is open from 6 am.
