They were supposed to start flying sometime this fall, but I've heard nothing else about this. ------------------ A "Mileage Run"... is that what they're called? I've been doing them for years and didn't know they had a name. All bought over the years and pieced together. For Marketing purposes, they all fly the 'USAirways' name (or USAirways Express if they are commuter aircraft). MidAtlantic would be another of these, although I'm not sure that USAir Group would be a 100% owner (I'm too lazy to go back and look through all the press releases and threads). But, to answer your question more directly, MidAtlantic won't be a banner on any airplane you board. You'll be buying a ticket on USAirways, flying a USAirways Express carrier, and flying a new Embraer Regional Jet that's almost the size of a Fokker or DC-9 that the mainline operator, USAirways, dumped over the last few years as part of the fleet rationalization and labor reduction. Not sure of the routes yet, but likely the medium/small markets from the hubs. PIT has been rumored to be a MidAtlantic hub. That beautiful, large, spacious terminal with a bunch of small jets parked at the gates designed for 757s and the like. What a collosal waste of space and resources. At least there will always be a seat in the waiting areas..... |
