I hear all about these space positive upgrades. They are on Ebay and easy to get. Who does US Airways give these to? Has anyone ever received one through legitimate means?

I use them all the time and am at about 75% successful when paying $25 or so for one of these on ebay. I upgrade the day before. Yes, US F is horrible but for a nice seat and only 20-30 bones more...My legs love it.

I suspect that these are given to corporations who have extensive travel contracts with US Airways, although I don't know this first hand. Also I have received these kinds of upgrades when I have had an issue that I brought to the attention of a station manager. Note, most of the time Consumer Affairs is going to send a dollars off voucher rather than an upgrade. I too would be curious though how these get in to such high circulation.

Those are space available, not space positive.
