new details:

flight 177, gate c29

plane is in FBI custody, passengers undergoing rescreening, outgoing customer
getting on plane discovered them on the floor. Just goes to show you that the plane
as usual was filfthy as usual and they
probabably only removed the obvious trash.

Just checked the web site and in the notes it says that the cancellation is due to aircraft maintenance affecting a prior flight.

Unbelievable

In the news, it was reported that the box cutter was found in one of the seat pockets.
Now the security will be backed up even longer.

Jane in PHL (tries not to use the pocket and certainly does not explore their depths)

Throw away or ignore any "contraband" you find. Don't help the TSA continue this stupidity!

A sense of humor is one thing, but these were the same weapons that killed several crew members. I really dont find this too funny.

I don't find it funny at all either.

I find the infantile response by the US government to the discovery of a small knife to be completely over the top.

Shoelaces have been used to kill before - are you afraid of them as well?

Any "weapon" could have killed the crew members - or none at all. Martial arts would have sufficed.

Box cutters did not cause 9/11. Pilots opening cockpit doors and people cooperating terrorists did. Since neither will happen again, box cutters and other similar objects are not credible weapons to hijack an airplane. Continuing to ban them and waste people's time and violate their civil liberties searching for them is ludicrous, if not borderline criminally negligent.
