To quote the title of a recent thread on this forum, "First Class Sucks".

If you are going to pay for it, give another airline the business.

A "Mileage Run"... is that what they're called? I've been doing them for years and didn't know they had a name.

It has become the general consensus that the US Airways First Class product is treated by the airline as a lower fare upgrade cabin for Preferred members. It's no longer marketed as a product worthy of generating a revenue premium.

Maybe the original poster should find a codeshare UA/US flight from PIT to Chicago and then fly UA from Chicago to San Diego. Originating in Pittsburgh I don't know wat else I would recommend...

What about America West?

HP's First Class product isn't worthy of a revenue premium either. It's similar to US' product.

Just fly UA all the way. That's what I did today to LAX. I got in 20 minutes early, the US direct flight was 3 hrs late.

F on the 767 looked nice up front, especially for the guy who sat next to Kirsten Dunst. (I was sitting next to her in ORD waiting for the flight, thinking "I bet people tell her she looks like that actress in Spiderman" - then I glanced at her BP)
