Thank you for posting this - most useful.
Of course, what would be more useful is if countries actually agreed to recognise each others' permits legally: most of these destinations are of the 'apply for a temporary permit when you get here' sort (including my home state for visitors), which is really a pain.
Our experience has been that we've not had any tickets using our South Australian permit around Europe and the USA (albeit one close scrape in Germany), but it would be nicer not to have to rely on luck.
Part of the luck is that this is such an obscure area that even when there is legal reciprocity, local law enforcement may not be aware of it.

That's why I chickened out on my last trip overseas. I'm not going to take a chance until I see it written into the law of the country I visit.
