Quick question, anyone flown Works Deluxe on a domestic configured 737? My AKL-TBU tomorrow has had the A320 switched out.

Wonder what they'll offer in the way of IFE? The call centre wasn't sure about seat selection either, they didn't know where to put me.

Maybe they will hand out the portable dvd players if they still have any laying around.

I'm guessing they"ll probably offer nothing at all, perhaps just a montage of safety videos on the little screen up front?

Maybe this is how Bruce is bringing back Space + a bit earlier than scheduled, and will I lose the SP bonus I was expecting to get :D

I believe the ETOPS 737 used for these flights still have the IFE in the armrests. You just will have the vast choice of what is shown on the LCD flipdown screens. At least you will have the Works Delux with very good legroom.:p

So this isn't a plane they've taken off a domestic route then? I wasn't aware they had any ETOPS 737, would have thought they'd have been put out to pasture long ago. Looks like I'd better dull the pain by getting to lounge early and having an extra shandy or 2

No they mostly fly domestic but before the S2S changes they did fly some Pacific Island routes. I am sure Kiwi Flyer has a couple of trip reports.
Some of the A320 that will be transferred to domestic will still retain their ETOPS capability, but not the IFE, in case they are need to cover for irrops.

Flights to IUE/NLK are still run by 733, hence the need for part of the fleet to still have there etops rating. When these aircarft are on domestic services, they are not etops rated, e.g the life rafts are removed to provide more overhead locker space.

Or I'm sure they could make a montage of lovely rico videos to play the whole way!

The IFE will be just like it was before the A320s got AVOD

LOL now believe it or not I'd enjoy that! I think I'm one of the few people who finds Rico amusing. :)

Thanks for the replies cavemanzk and blackcloud. I'll see if I can find some of kiwi flyer's trip reports

I think you'll find it is still used on domestic flights, but it is always replaced when a TT a320 breaks down. There are only a small number of airnz pilots who have an ETOPS licence for the 733

I wasn't saying that it isn't used on domestic :D

Just simply stating when the etpos 733 are on domestic services they drop there etops rating.

As an update, it was a good flight to be on if you were on a seat only fare. Because of the change from A320 to 733 they decided they would provide all pax with a meal and a voucher for $30AP as compensation for limited IFE.

Not so great if you've got status and paid extra $$$ for works deluxe and end up getting exactly same treatment as pax on the cheaper fare.

Didn't even automatically get the "extra personal space" (which is the only reason I booked WD in the first place). Was allocated seats 2E & 2F when checked in and when I queried about the extra space was just met with a blank stare. Had to speak to a supervisor to get a seat blocked out between us. Time to lift your game NZ because my expectations are higher than this.

Definitely flew 733 to IUE and back. Can't remember if NLK was 733 or A320.

Niue trip report (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6747120) and Norfolk Island trip report (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?p=6860522).

Ah so NLK was also 733.
