Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - CX Amex bonus miles on non-HK on-line bookings

Hi all,

I know CX Amex gives 1 AM per HKD 8 local spend, and per HKD 4 overseas spend. It also gives "Double Asia Miles when you book your Cathay Pacific flights online at www.cathaypacific.com".

If I book an ex-TPE flight on cathay's website which will be charged in TWD, does that mean I get in totality 1 AM per HKD 2 spent ?

No, it does not. If you read the fine print, the cathaypacific.com promotion is "Applicable only to Cathay Pacific tickets originating from Hong Kong purchased online through www.cathaypacific.com."

So you will get 1 AM / 4 HKD.

CX and Amex' websites do contradict each other .. sigh.

The terms on Cathay's site apply; I have only gotten HK$4 / mile for both my Dec 2010 ex-TPE USA trip and for my Aug 2011 ex-TPE USA trip. Cathay's extra bonus would show up directly on your MPC / AM statement and not as bonus miles on your CX-AMEX statement and they've never shown up on mine, but they show up on my husband's ex-HKG flights all the time.
